Mission Name: Slaughter Special: Yumi & the twin Ogres
Rank: A
Type: NPC
Client: People of the land
Exp/Ryo Reward: 1,200ryo
Mission Description: The second rogue target is a wanted shinobi named Yumi. She joined the circus to hide her identity. She has fled the circus and has taken her two "babies" with her. Two large brutish ogres with child-like minds who listen to every command Yumi makes. Defeat Yumi and these two brutes before they escape. The brutes are more agile than you might expect and boast great strength, though Yumi has no skills or strength of her own.

Mother Yumi.. Rei said out loud as she looked over the mission details: one of the many notorious names given to a shinobi female named Yumi who possessed two incredibly strong ogres who saw her as their mother. Dumb but strong, these ogres lacked any real intelligence, not even smart enough to tell that their "mother" Yumi wasn't even an ogre. This was going to be a troublesome mission, Rei could already tell. Just reading the mission details made her sigh at the amount of work and danger she would be facing: fighting three targets at once could be quite perilous, especially when two of them had the strength to smash a human body into bloody paste on the ground. Rei rolled up the details of the mission and tossed the scroll onto his bed. She got dressed in his usual attire, starting by wrapping her arms and legs in white bandages, followed by the 3/4 length black pants and long sleeve black shirt. She zipped up her dark grey flak jacket and then tied her ninja pouch to her middle lower waist and put the mission scroll inside.

The mission report said that they had spotted Yumi and her ogres last just outside of a small village not too far away from the village. With the wanted criminals leaving the circus now that their covers have been blown and shinobi being sent to hunt them down, these circus freaks were desperate and Rei didn't doubt she would have a difficult time in apprehending or killing the target. Chances were high that Yumi was in the small village and looking for a means of escape while hiding: logically, that made Rei believe her to try and hide by traveling inside a cart of some sort. The problem was, her two ogre "children" were much too large for convenient methods of travel and anything large enough to transport them down a road would be much too obvious and too big of a target. The only options that seemed reasonable to Rei were limited. Either Yumi would risk traveling in such a predictable method, or she would leave her ogre children and flee for herself. That wasn't likely to happen, her ogre children were what brought her notoriety and the things she desired at nothing more than a motherly pat and a command. The last option was most likely and what Rei better on.

She left the village after having nodded to the gate guards and headed off to the West side of the village's forest. Yumi would likely try to skirt the small village she had been spotted near, using the forest and nearby river for coverage and a source of water. Yumi had two options, travel by land and in the hidden trees of the forest, or travel swiftly on the currents of the river to skirt the village as a whole and escape into the unknown lands of the land of Heavenly Blossoms and its large misty forest. Seeing as she was a wanted criminal of high notoriety, chances are that she would assume they would send skilled trackers to follow her. With this line of reasoning, Yumi would choose the most expedient and less-traceable form of travel, the river. The river was a large one that traveled downstream from the sea on the south side of the village's border and flowed through the forest on the west side: the direction of the river would take Yumi and her ogres north until they were out of border and reach. Rei had to act before that could happen.

Unlike Yumi who had to travel secretly to avoid detection and report, Rei could travel freely without much concern as to who saw her. That was a major advantage she held over the missing shinobi and her two brutes. Rei traveled swiftly and straight in a direction north and then turning a sharp left into the thick forest: she traveled a distance until she was satisfied she had out-distanced the range between her and Yumi. She quickly found the river by noticing in which direction the moss grew on tree bark and boulders. It was an impressive river, though no one ever traveled in this direction so there was no bridge. A bridge would have been ideal for what Ri had in store: an outright fight with Yumi and her two troublesome brutish children would be quite difficult. Rei was fast, but out-maneuvering three opponents was near impossible unless they were much slower than she was. Rei didn't want to take that chance. She would have to ambush them.

Se traveled and looked keenly below at the ground and the river to her right side as she traveled the opposite bank and headed south down the river's length. Ten minutes out, she spotted the targets. Yumi was standing on the bank as her two ogre children lifted a makeshift raft into the water and helped their petite mother onto the raft. With powerful arms, the two ogres pushed off from the bank and began to drift in the direction north and up the river. Rei located a large tree and used it as a marker and then counted the distance in seconds before the rafts passed that point. fifty meters in around 15 seconds, so by that speed, the raft would make it to the spot of ambush in about fifteen minutes.

Successful so far, Rei knew what to do next. She reached into her ninja pouch and pulled out lengths of ninja wire. She wrapped it around her hands and kept a lengthy piece separated between her hands and dived into the water where she floated with just her heads above the water until their targets were in position.

A couple of steady minutes passed as she waited and finally saw the raft with the ogres and the target. She waited another thirty seconds and lowered further in the water and submerged. Another fifteen seconds passed and the  raft reached the ambush location. With the new knowledge, Rei  positioned herself underneath the raft and jumped up with the lengths of ninja wire at the ready. The movements that upset the raft's course, caused the two standing brutes to be off balance as she attacked, tShe reached forward and looped the wire under the brutes, which wrapped the length of ninja wire around the ogre's feet and fell back into the water. The disruption of the boat and the momentum of the attack pulled the unbalanced ogres into the water with surprise as they could not swim, the waret choking the ogres and effectively drowning them beneath the surface of water.

Yumi, who had seen this happen, had been too slow to react. As she had witnessed her children being ambushed bya ninja with ninja wire that dug into the ogre's leg's flesh, she hadn't realized that aas Rei had siapeared beneath the water's surface again, she positioned herself under Yumi and had jumped up from behind her and wrapped the length of ninja wire around her neck and pulled tight as she stood on the raft and strangled Yumi. She kicked her legs in desperation, trying to vainly call out to her two ogre children. Beneath the water, the ogres downed helplessly submerged beneath the choking waters: they were dumb creatures and apparently couldn't swim at all despite their powerful muscles. That made drowning easier, but Rei couldn't chance them learning to swim and counter attack. As Yumi looked at the water, her eyes bulging from lack of air, bubbles of air escaped the water's surface, followed by heavy amounts of blood.

Rei strangled the last bits of breathe and strength out of the rogue female shinobi. Your death and the death of your children was your rush to escape without considering the safety of your escape route. she said to her in a cold tone as her eyes went black and she suffocated. With the deed done, Rei pushed the corpse off the raft and onto the near shore and carried the corpse back in the direction of the village. Rei's were soaked and carried the corpse sporadically to not tire her out as she traveled: using the river as a means of ambush had carried them a decent ways out of the village and she would travel for over an hour until she found the gates of the village. Rei took the corpse in her arms and walked to the gate and passed the guards, carrying the corpse of the missing shinobi in and to the medical shinobi. The guars just looked at her, not too sure what to think of the whole situation, Rei carrying a strangled corpse right into the village.

Mission Name: Slaughter Special: Serpent Juro
Rank: A
Type: NPC
Client: People of the land
Exp/Ryo Reward: 1,200ryo
Mission Description: Your third target is a wanted criminal named Juro the serpent master. This man is notorious for feeding victims to his large serpent. Juro is a skilled shinobi with the Doton element, working in tandem with his pet snake: his giant snake can submerge beneath the ground and attack from beneath the ground. Defeat the pair.
Location: Heaven's Blossom

Three targets in one week? Rei shook her head, the village really wanted these wanted individuals dead. Criminals and murderers in their own pursuit, the village was enraged that such criminals were hiding in the midst of its blissful villagers. Now that there was no place for them to hide peacefully, the criminals would ravage the land around Heaven's Blossom and cause a lot of trouble. The village wanted these criminals dispatched of quickly before they could grasp a foot hold on the land or wreak some serious damage. Being the shinobi to unhinge the circus and the previous criminal, the village saw it fit to send their capable shinobi. They wanted to test her and see if she was up to the task: possibly a promotion lay in store if she was successful enough and accomplished.

Rei was up to the challenge though, being an intellectual individual and understanding how politics worked within the village, Rei knew that successfully completing these missions along with her other accomplishments would put her in good standing with the village's reputation and feats. She was sure to be a higher rank before too much longer and the higher ranked within the Uchiha echelon would take note of her and confide greater trust and secrecy to her. She gripped the mission paper tightly, partially in excitement and also partially in controlled rage. She was one step closer to becoming that star above the world that she had promised both Yin and Rin on their dying breathes. Nothing was going to stop her from accomplishing that dream.

She read over the mission details again to ensure she fully understood the mission and could act freely on this mission. Juro Serpent... it will be hard to deal an ambush on such a shinobi. Especially with such a deadly companion as a giant serpent. Being a skilled shinobi of the Doton element, Juro wouldn't go to water or sky for an escape: instead he was likely to bolster down somewhere and create a defensible position and start a bandit guild or something like that. Rei had to get the shinobi into an environment where she felt safe but allowed Rei the upper advantage in the situation. Ideally she wanted to give Juro a false sense of confidence while she undermined it and defeated the shinobi quickly. There was still the worry about the large serpent pet Juro had: her orders were to kill the pair, both of them. So far, Rei had killed the pairs of all the wanted shinobi criminals, Juro and his serpent would be no different, just a lot more trickery.

Having thought of how to go about this, Rei still couldn't fully decide but she had a few ideas forming in her mind. She needed to get dressed and find the serpent master before he became too familiar with the surroundings. Chances were that Juro relied heavily on his serpent for combo techniques like the Inuzuka and relied heavily on his serpent companion's skills to make up for his own inadequacies. A plan was forming inside Rei's mind, but it involved doing away with the serpent first. If she could fall the giant, the brain of the operation would shortly fall afterwards. Most tacticians didn't plan after the brunt of their plans, Rei expected Juro the Serpent to be no different in terms of combat. Rei had the advantage that she was the unknown attacking force with the ability to choose the battle place and change the flow of the battle to fit her own purposes.

Returning to her room, Rei dressed in her usual garb. She started by tying tight white bandages around her arms and legs to prevent injuries as best as possible. There was another purpose to this as well, it helped reduce her own scent but increased her body temperature: in this case the serpent would be able to see her more clearly than just a fuzzy red haze from its heat vision. Followed by bandaging her arms and legs, Rei slipped on her 3/4 length pants and long black sleeve shirt. She slipped on her black shinobi sandals and then zipped up her dark grey flak jacket that sported the clan's symbol. She grabbed her ninja pouch and tied it to her lower middle back: now fully prepared, she set out of her house. She locked the door and walked swiftly through the village as she headed for the front gates. She nodded to the guards and they nodded back respectfully.

By the report of the mission details, Juro the Serpent was last seen in the Eastern part of the forest near a small village. Chances were high that Juro was using that village as a hiding place, a base of operations and a feeding ground for his large serpent. From what Rei had read about the notorious shinobi, Juro favored feeding people to his serpent. In a sad way, Rei was hoping on this. If Juro felt safe and secure, he would feed his serpent a human being of the small village. For a short few days, the serpent would be sluggish as it would digest such a large meal. If Rei was correct, she would have the ample time in dealing with the serpent. The problem was that she would have to attack silently and swiftly to defeat the serpent. If the serpent knew she was going to attack, it could activate a defensive mechanism and regurgitate its meal to regain its agile movement.

She traveled swiftly from the trees to avoid leaving any traces on the ground. Soon she arrived in the little village to the East: peering down from a nearby hill, everything looked normal on the surface. Rei moved closer, climbing down the hill and standing near the village's outskirts, Rei could monitor the villagers. While they went about their daily tasks, they seemed defeated and worried: the mothers and wives occasionally glanced at the larges building in the village, only what Rei could guess was a form of shrine. She didn't want to let them know she was there, in case their panic was thought relieved, they could be too loud and give away the element of surprise: that or Juro could have recruited bandits to be hiding in the crowd of villagers to prevent them from leaving or telling anyone anything. Rei hid behind the wall of a nearby building as she listened to some women gossiping. Apparently Juro was inside the shrine and was holding hostages: if anyone tried to escape the village or tell anyone he was there, he would have his pet eat their beloved ones. Rei nodded to herself in a grim manner, if Juro had taken hostages, then at least one or two of them were already snacks to that large serpent: while terrible news, it also was good news to Rei who had to slay the beast. One or two sacrifices here and there were an acceptable loss if the thread was defeated in the end. It was still very much unfortunate.

Rei traveled along the outside of the village's outskirts until she rounded to the backside of the shrine and peered through a window near the roof. It was unnaturally warm in the temple to accommodate the serpent's large body. There were three stories to the shrine and no one seemed to be on the upper floor. She slipped through the window and stuck to the shadows after determining that the serpent or Juro wasn't around. In this situation, it was good that Juro had taken hostages, the serpent wouldn't single her out if he saw her body heat. Listening carefully and feeling out the darkness of the building, Rei came to realize that by the sound of Juro talking, he was talking loudly, projecting his voice from the second floor room to the bottom floor, the basement. Luck would have it that right now Juro and his serpent was separated.

She skillfully sneaked through the house and headed towards the basement, carefully entering, Rei found a group of innocent villagers bound and gagged in one corner of the room. Their backs were turned to her as they were more intently watching the restless body of the sleeping serpent in fear of when it woke up. Rei had to plan carefully, if she didn't instantly kill the serpent, then Juro would rush down the stairs and tag-team her with the giant pet. There was a means for stopping that however, since there was only one means of reaching the basement, Juro would have to come by this direction to reach the basement. Bending low to the wooden steps, Rei pulled out a ninja wire and placed it on the underside of one of the middle steps. having done that, she moved down further into the basement and slowly crept up on the villagers. All of them were sitting bound on the floor, so she sat beside them and waited: the villagers who saw her made muffled noises, believing themselves to be saved.

Rei had anticipated that and the serpent seemed to sense something was amiss. Its restless body moved as it woke from its lazy slumber and turned its large head to peer at the captives in the basement. Its eyes could only see heat vision, so it couldn't tell that Rei wasn't bound, but it could have sworn there was one extra than before: hadn't the serpent already eaten one of the captives? Moving its head closer, the serpent sniffed the air as its head came close to each individual and identified them. One by one the serpent identified the captives by their smell until it came to Rei. It moved its head terribly close to Rei, one wrong move and she would become a snake meal. The serpent focused on sniffing her to identify her: with quick hands, Rei tapped the bottom of its maw and placed her fingers under the serpent's scales. Rei did this without the serpent realizing, but as the serpent smelled her, it couldn't smell anything at all. Confused, the serpent peered at her and not understanding. Realizing this wasn't a hostage, the serpent reared its head back and slithered its tongue aggressively as it prepared to strike her. Too late, Rei's hand moved with the serpent as she lunged forward, jabbing Erebus deeply into the serpent's jaws and right into the brain.

Rei dodged to the opposite side of the hostages to prevent the serpent from mowing them don with its tackle as it flailed a few moments. Rei barely dodged at the serpent attempted to tackle him but instead hit a thin wall and broke through to the next room. The commotion caused the hostages to panic and began to make loud noises. That couldn't hide the clattering destruction of a wall by the serpent alerted the serpent master Juro that something was wrong. Rei stood up cautiously as he heard the footsteps of Juro running down the stairs and calling to his pet. The serpent was by the stairs now, lifeless, Juro ran halfway down the stairs and stopped to assess the situation. Checkmate.

Rei said in her mind as juro pulled out two explosve tags. The man intended to blow up Rei and the hostages together. He was mistaken however, as he readied the attack, he rushed down the steps further and performed one handseal and caused the two explosive tags to explode. The problem was, he tripped over the trap on the steps: one explosive tag fell off the steps and onto the serpent's head while the remaining one was still within his grasp. The serpents head exploded and sent gore everywhere: Juro's step exploded and took out the lower half of the shinobi's body. Rei descended upon him with a kunai as the dazed and burnt man lay on the ruins of the stairs, Rei ran the sharp edge of her kunai across the man's throat and slit it deep. Now panicked and gargling in his own blood, Juro tried vainly to use his hands and hold the blood from escaping his neck. His grip slackened as he lost blood and in a matter of seconds, he died from bleeding out. Rei wiped her kunai on the man's clothing and then cut the hostages free. Nastily done but effective.

Now freed, the villagers thanked Rei, the women hugging her and the men thankfully shaking her hand for saving them. They hadn't expected a shinobi to come, better still that the shinobi had come even without knowing that their little village was in such terrible danger. They were grateful, but also mournful, they had lost a couple of people before Rei's arrival, those were lost a day or more before so Rei couldn't be blamed. Rei didn't really feel bad, but she could understand their feelings of loss: she too had lost everything that was dear to her. With the danger now defeated, the villagers were quick to go outside and find their loved ones. They skirted around the two corpses of the serpent and wanted criminal: some justified people had even kicked the corpses to feel better about themselves for the unjust things done to them and their loved ones. Outside, Rei followed from a distance to watch and ensure that there were no other hidden dangers like bandits disguised as villagers. It would appear that there were none however. I guess I stopped Juro and his pet before he could start recruiting villagers, either way, I'm glad this is over with. Im really tired of dealing with such large and exotic dangerous pets. She shook her head and began to leave the village, the villagers thanked her as a whole and promised to collect the body of the two dead wanted pair and send them to the village after they had recovered from the shock of being held hostage. With that, Rei felt satisfied and headed back to the village.

The Alps of Thunder, a beautiful but notoriously deadly place to visit. The mountain was located above the glorious Uchiha clan's humble village, the mountain ridge of the Alps of Thunder towered overhead on one side, effectively blocking out the sunlight in the later hours of the evenings. Rei sat on a bench just outsde the village as she looked up at the mountain ridges. Astutely named, the mountain was currently rolling with a severe thunderstorm up in near the tip of the Alps. That windy thunderstorm combned with the snow and intense cold would surely prove a troublesome travel for any individual attempting to reach the summit. Which was what brought Rei to this meeting. In words only, the task is simple. This mission was granted by the emperor to the fit and exceptonal shinobi. The goal is to reach the top of the Alps of Thunder. In total, there are four of you whom presently will partake in this mission. While you are all on the same mission, do not be mistaken. This is a solo challenge, a race between the four participants. I will be awaiting you at the top and you all will receive further instructions once there.

Rei sat on the bench alone, four others stood cautiously by. No one seemed to want to sit very close to the Rei Uchiha, rumored to have killed twenty something children her age at the age of six years old. They could only imagine how much more deadly she was now with a matured body and many ninja skills. It was simply best to just avoid her and stay off her radar completely. As such, Rei was always treated in this manner, not that she cared, for she honestly felt nothing. A woman devoid of emotion. Granted, recently, a man named Jianyu had helped her feel her first emotion: despair. It had been an eventful moment and Rei could still remember how it had felt. Nothing had happened between the two, but beng near the killer taught Rei a valuable lesson. If she wanted to become stronger, she needed genuine emotions to awaken the dormant power sleeping soundly within her fragile mind. Well, looks like I have an hour to prepare for this trip. then we're supposed to meet back here to set out. she told herself as she stood up and began to make mental notes as to the kinds of materials she would need for this mission. It was not a typical mission, t was more a test of personal skill and courage. Countless stories floated around the village about people adventuring up into the mountains, never to be seen again. This was not just a mission, it was a test of survival. On top of that, the mission details were mostly unclear. They would be filled n on the rest of the mission once they reached the top of the mountain. It troubled Rei's ever curious mind.

With the leader and the three other participants gone their separate ways to make their own preparations, that left Rei to her own timing and preparations. Rei lived with only one other family member, her sister Yin. Yin was the only person whom treated Rei as a normal person. If ever Rei had felt appreciation, it would have been for her big sister who looked after the cooking and the house work. Rei arrived at the house, Yin was alraedy in the kitchen cooking and heard Rei return. Rei. Have you gotten a mission? Yin asked her baby sister, who only nodded her head. Rei was in deep thought and preparng a checklist mentally. Yin could see that Rei was serious. I'll make you some food to eat during the mission Rei. I made some soup, so I hope a warm meal will assit you and bring you back alive. said Yin as she returned to the kitchen to finsh making the soup.

It was a good idea, the warm meal would surely help Rei stay warm and fight her way to the top of the mountain. Rei just nodded her head and went to her room as she began to grab stuff in preparation. First, she grabbed a travel bag, a sturdy medium sized one that she could easily attack to her waist to allow herself both hands free for climbing or whatever. Inside the bag, she placed a sleeping bag, a pillow, several layers of clothing, a plastic bag, some dry food for snacking and several bottles of water. It was unclear how long they would be on this mission and Rei didn't want to be unprepared.

She took off her usual attire, the thin form fitting black dress and her leather leggings. She slipped off her gloves Erebus and went to her closet naked. Opening the double doors and gazing at the wardrobe, she visually picked through the clothing to find clothes that would be suitable for the climb. In her dainty hand reached to the closet and pulled out a thick fur jacket, made from the pelt of one of the mountain snow bears. It would do well to insulate her body during the climb, it even had a head covering which was the head of the bear. Also providing effective bestial camouflage in case she ran across any of the cold denizens of the Alps of Thunder.

Along with the jacket, she pulled out a set of matching black insulated underwear, a top and bottom. She put these on immediately and already felt much more warm even in the moderate temperature of the house. Over that, she put on a zip-up  tight black leather short sleeved shirt: the purpose was to retain as much of her body heat as possible while signifcantly reducing the chilling and cutting edge of the winds. Plus as leather, it was also waterproof, which would keep her dry during the storm that was going on. On her legs, she slipped on some tight laether pants over her insulated pajama bottoms, this served the same purpose as the jacket. On her feet, she put on a par of black leather steel toed and insulated boots, the boots were as high as her shin and flexible, not hard and rigid. Otherwise that would have restricted her climbing movements. These boots were tucked under her leather pants, effectively concealing the lip between pants and boots, causing her to be fully encased in a warm insulater from the cold and wetness of the mountain.

Over her hands, she slipped on her black gloves again. Erebus was actually a weapon, but it also served as gloves, which would prevent her from injuring her arms, freezing or wetting them during her climb. The best part about Erebus was that the glove's fingers were sharpened and would easily grasp deep into the snow or soft rock as she would climb. Finally, she slipped on the bear pelt jacket, which was a snow white color to blend in with the snowy terrain, she was now physically ready for the climb. She grabbed the packed back and tied it behind her waist, it was light enough and not bulky. It would make for easy climbing without restricting her movements much. Now being ready, she returned to the door, fully prepared to go. Yin stopped her at the door however and hugged her apathetic sister. Yin handed her a hefty thermos, full of scolding hot soup. If I had known you were going up the mountain, I would have prepared more... Come back safe Rei. said her sister Yin when the woman realized from Rei's attire, that she was attending a trialing mission in the mountains to test the body and mind of the Uchiha shinobi.

Rei returned the hug lightly and stowed the thermos in her pack. She could feel its warmth against her lower back already, it would prove a good heat source for the first part of the journey up the mountain. It will take more than a mountain to kill your little sister. Rei teased Yin, also consoling her older sister's worry, which was etched quite visibly on her beautiful face. With that, she left the house and walked through the village, getting some confused and some understanding looks from people who had and hand't done the mountain challenge yet. She arrived soon after at the meeting spot, though she was the first to arrive. Shortly, both the other three participants and the leader of the mission would find their way here and see Rei all ready to go.

From the look of it, the other three participants didn't seem to have prepared as fully as Rei had. It there was a diffcult objectve at the top of the mountain, Rei surely did not hold her breathe on these three. Likely if they even survived and made it to the top, they would be physically spent, suffering from frost bite and delirious. Alright, in five minutes after I disappear from the line of sight, I want all four of you to start out and meet me at the top of the mountain. There is a little rest station at the top, so it's hard to miss. With that, the man began to walk away. The four participants, including Rei, watched with eager and anticipating eyes as they waited for him to disappear from sight. Finally he did, suddenly in a highspeed movement technique. He would surely beat them to the top, but not too long before. The four's eyes turned to the clock nearby, a ticking round device that the guards used at the gate to determine their shifts.

Five minutes passed slowly, each person thinking about how much they dreaded this mission and would have much preferred the comfort and warmth of their own homes. Finally the fifth minute passed and each shinobi took off in a dash towards the base of the mountain. This was indeed a mission and a race, but not so much as a quick race. It was a race through the means of durability and perseverance, plus physical fitness. Attempting to rush up the mountain was surely a suicide tactic. Each participant took separate routes. Among the four, Rei was the only female. The other three, being notable shinobi in her clan that was aspiring to become greater. She too was such an aspiring person. It made sense why the four of them had been picked for this task.

As they took their separate paths, most chose the most obvious choice. There were grooved paths in the mountain, often used as a form of travel. Rei decided to go against the grain on this mission and find her own path. The main path was rumored to be watched by predators, voracious beasts such as the snow bear who eager would hunt down humans in the mountain as a source of food. The chances that Rei would run into one while climbing the side of the mountain, was less likely.

Immediately she set out, at a moderate but controlled pace as her gloved hands sunk into the soft rock base of the mountain and her footing found ledges to lift herself up further. Rei was considered a C Rank shinobi, but her speed and strength far surpassed many and was assumed on par with that of the clan leader. Of course Rei wouldn't admit such a thing, but it was true. These facts made it all the more easy for Rei to take her climb up the mountain with her graceful speed and monstrous strength. Up she went for over an hour as she scaled the side of the mountain, further getting away from the common path that the other three used. No longer could she see them as the mountain curves had twisted both hers and their paths out of sight.

In her second hour, Rei found the snow. The air had grown mutch more cold and the thickness of the air was much lower. The alttude made breathing a difficult thing at her current pace, which forced her to slow down to make sure she was getting adequate oxygen to her brain to prevent her from passing out or becoming delirious and falling to her death. For the next two hours, she climbed slowly, her muscles getting tired from the continual exertion of the climb. Dawn had just set and the temperatures had suddenly plumeted in the high peaks. Her mind was solely focused on the climb, each handhold and footing ahead of her planned out. So focused on the climb that she didn't notice the slightly less steep slope of the mountain side. Up ahead of her was a small platuae.

If she had been thinking more rational, she would have come up with the idea that as a more hospitable point in the mountain. It was likely that there would be predators of the mountain living in this spot. Instead, she kept climbing and found herself layed out on the ledge, looking just thirty feet away was a group of six snow bears, whom had recognized her entry into their territory. She had on her snow bear jacket and hood, which made her appear as another snow bear from a distance. Whether this helped her or not, Rei wasn't sure. In reality, the six bears had seen this new "bear" approach their territory and they saw it as an act of challenge.

Already tired and slow from the climb, Rei hardly felt up to fighting the beasts as they rushed at her. She activated the chakra within her body and let it flow through her hair suddenly. Her raven black hair underneath her bear hood extended out quckly and formed a defensive cocoon around her body. With being protected from n assault, Rei took the chance to further her advantage against the rapidly approaching bears. All six bears ran directly at her, the other five following their leader. That made things easier for Rei. Some of the hairs around Rei's body extended outwards and suddenly exploded into a barrage of sharp needles which assaulted the bears. The attack ripped through their bodies like butter and buried deep into the rock behind them under the snow.

Of all six bears, she had struck vital points on their bodies. The last bear, the one in the rear had managed to be uninjured by most of the needles. The other five bears and the fat amongst them had reduced the damage and cushioned the final bear. While it sported many injuries, it was not enough to stop the bear in its tracks. Instead, the crimson oozing wounds on its body only infuriated the beast as it rushed Rei's spot in a crazed rush. Now havig closed the distance in the blinding snow, the bear lunged at Rei and swiped with its large paws at her protective cocoon.

While not strong enough to break her guard, the Uchha girl was standing near the ledge and had poor footing. This combined with her fatiqued body and the powerful swipe of the bear, cause the girl to lose her footing and slide backwards. One foot dropped over the ledge and that brought alarms to Rei's mind as she immediately recognized the danger she was in. Another swipe from the bear and she would plumet to her death!

She activated the doton chakra withn her body and the snow behind the bear exploded into movement as a large and powerful golem suddenly bursted from the snow and gripped the bear in both arms. A mighty hug from the golem crushed the bear's body, crushing it and killing it as its insides were smashed to paste. Off over the edge went toe bear's corpse and the golem reached down, grabbing Rei just as her last foot slid from the snowy edge. Together, the golem and Rei staggered from the cliff's edge and found the hollow cave the bears had previously used for a home. Rei set herself up in the cave and had the earth golem position itself just over the entrance of the cave, preventing the chilling wind from coming in, but still enough to allow oxygen through. Not only that, but the golem also acted as a boulder to prevent anymore bears from coming into the cave while Rei slept.

Out came her sleeping back, unrolled and dried herself off with a towel as she nuzzled into the warmth and pulled the thermos of soup from the bag. She opened it and smelled. Yin was a wonderful cook, just the smell and the warmth of the soup was enough to ease the fatigue and gnawing hunger at her stomach as she drank half of the soup and ate a couple pieces of soft dry bread. With her meal done and her body quite warm. Rei checked herself for signs of frostbite, there were none. Now safe and secure, with no chance of falling asleep and dying of hypothermia, Rei drifted off to sleep in her sleeping bag and slept several hours, not once thinking or concerning herself with the fate of the other three participants.

Several hours later, she awoke. The wind had died down mostly and there were no sounds of bears outside. Chakra flowed to the golem again as she willed it to move from the doorway of the cave and allowed her to climg onto its hand. Now with the sunlight shining and clearing the darkness for her, she could look up and see how close to the summit of the mountain she was. Several hundred feet above, she could see the red flag of the rest station and the very tip of the building's roof. This should be quick. she told herself as she readied her plan. This close to the summit, she was sure the others were likely close and it required Rei to think outsde the box to beat them there. The golem, knowing her intentions, readied its main arm back as though it were to throw a baseball, Rei in its hand as the baseball. With mighty strength, the golem threw Rei up into the air as a rocket. The feeling of vertigo overtook Rei for but a moment as she felt weightless and then her body rocketed over the lip of the summit and Rei landed on her feet, just infront of the flag. The rest station only ten feet from her position.

The leader of the mission, who was sitting inside and watching, had seen Rei fly up the opposide side of the mountain he had expected her to come from. He had expected all four participants to come up the roughly carved path, all the while fighting each other to be first. This was not the case for the strange Uchiha girl however. He sat down his cup of warm tea and went outside to meet her. Looks like you are the first to reach the top, Rei Uchiha. Any word of the others? he inquired of Rei, hoping she knew something of the other three participants. She just shook her head, her mouth dry from the thin air. He welcomed her inside and gave her a warm cup of tea to relax her throat.

An hour passed as the two sat by the window, watching the pass and expecting to see the three shinobi at any moment. Finally, at the end of the hour. The three shinobi appeared over the ridge, clinging to each other for support as they hurried the last bit to the checkpoint. Instead of fighting each other at the last bit, the three continued to work together and all arrived at the same moment. The leader and Rei went out to meet them. Congratulations. You have all survived. Normally, one or more of you would have died fightng each other on the way up here.[/b] The three men participants chuckled, a well known story had passed between them. Apparently, the three had fought much earlier in a vicous fight. They fought hard enough that they wasted much of their chakra and then realized they would all die if they did not support each other. They each bore wounds, minor to medium and not life threatening, but they were unfit to go down the mountain just yet.

Now that you are all here. The last part of the mission is to finish your fight and one of you claim victory.[/b] At the leader's words, the faces of the three man's faces paled. Not only had they wasted much chakra the day and night before, but they had also suffered injuries from fighting and falling. One of them sported wounds from frostbite and another was close to passng out from lack of oxygen. On top of that, the three were to be pitted against one another and against Rei, the psychotic Uchiha woman.

Just looking at Rei, they could see that she had faired much better and had arrived first a long time ago. It was easy to tell who the victor would be, but they still considered fighting for their pride's sake of not losing to a woman. Rei looked over to her left, her stone golem rising up from the ground and towering above the three weak and wounded men. It pounded its fist again its open palm, eager to smash something. All three hands of the men went up, Yeah... we admit defeat. We don't want to die just yet. said one and the other two nodded wholeheartedly. Just like that, the last part of the mission had been accomplished, the other three participants admitting defeat from their exhausted and wounded bodies. They had no chance of fighting Rei.

It was apparant enough and the leader of the group knew it too. He half exepcted the outcome and easily accepted their loss. Rei had one both the race up the mountain, as well as the fight wthout once using her own hands to claim victory. We will leave for the village in the morning. All of you go inside and rest in the rooms. There is a hot meal and some warm tea waiting for you... Now, let's check out that frostbite and see how serious it is. said the leader as he helped the men into the rest station. Rei had enjoyed her little journey. Her rock golem returning to the earth as she went inside to finish the warm soup and breathe Yin had prepared for her the day before.

Only one day had passed since Rei and the old man's last fishing trip that had ended badly. Rei was inside her house and adding salve to her bite wounds, a knock on the door brought her the news of another mission. She shook her head in disbelief as she recognized the old man's handwriting and began to read the mission. He wants to do what now? Rei asked herself incredulously as she dropped the scroll in disbelief and looked at herself in the mirror. Her shirt was off and she was half finished rubbing salve onto the many bite wounds that dotted her arms and chest. This old man really was stubborn! Rei had known the great fisherman for some time now, she knew the old man to be a patient and sagacious person. Seeing the impatient and stubborn side of the old man was new to Rei and it felt like she was turning the page in another part of her and the old man's history. If I don't help, that old man could get himself killed with that stubborn attitude. Rei said to convince herself. She didn't want the old man dying because of Rei's own desire not to go back to that fishing spot.

She quickly applied the salve to the rest of the bite marks and threw on her shirt, surely there would be fresh bite marks when she returned from the mission. She left her salve on the bedside table just in case. She prepared, tying her ninja pouch to the lower middle of her waist and left the house. She locked the door and made the dreaded trek towards the docks. upon her arrival, the old man was already in his boat and sitting while fidgeting and tapping his fingers against the edge of the wooden boat. Rei waved to him and the great fisherman waved back. Today the leather gloves remained untouched as Rei entered the boat and the old man shipped out of the docks silently and headed towards the location of his old favorite fishing spot. I don't expect a young lady like you to understand Rei, but this is a fight between a fisherman and the waters. A new breed of fish has taken over the nesting ground of the jumping fish and I believe this large fish to be the mother. I need your help in slaying the thing so I can turn my favorite spot normal again. Rei nodded silently.

They traveled the distance of the way to the cove and spotted it from far away: somehow the trip this time felt much shorter and Rei had dreaded every moment of it. They turned the boat in the direction of the cove and slowed its speed as they neared the entrance of the cove: the old man pulled out a long and thick wooden stick to press against the far bottom of the cove and slow his ship to a stop. It was a good thing they stopped short: the water rippled several feet ahead of the ship and a large sharp-toothed fish the size of the old man's boat jumped out of the water and then back into the water with a great splash. The wave of water rolled beneath the old man's boat and pushed them backwards a bit. Damn that's a big fish.... said the great fisherman in an equally awed and fearful tone. The old man's words only caused a feeling of unsettling in Rei. If the old man hadn't expected the fish to be this big, then this mission was harder than Rei had initially thought.

Rei's quick thinking mind looked around the area, a fight with that fish out in the open water could potentially lead their boat to capsizing and they would be eaten alive by the smaller piranha fish. They needed to get an environmental advantage of this giant fish. If they couldn't fight it in the water... then how about out of the water? A plan slowly formulated in Rei's mind and she stood up and held up a hand to stop the old man from doing anything foolish. Let me handle this old man. Rei said in a tone the old man hand't heard before, a voice of certainty and authority in the uchiha shinobi. Impressed, the old man sat down in the boat and watched.

Secured with her footing in the boat and confident, Rei waited patiently and prevented the boat from moving or disturbing the water. The old man waited quietly, he knew when a fisherman was drawing out the fish and getting ready for a big catch. Several long moments passed and then Rei spotted movement directly ahead of the boat: the large fish suddenly erupted from the surface of the water and into the air. Set and ready, Tiger → Ox → Dog → Rabbit → Snake went her hands in quick succession while the fish was airborne. A sudden and fierce burst of wind appeared before Rei at the edge of the boat and smacked the fish dead in the air. The velocity and power of the strike knocked the fish straight off of the water's surface and crashing into the trees nearby. Ha! To think you would catch a fish out of water! Impressed, young lady!

With the fish out of the waters and crashed into the wood line no less, its defeat was all but assured. Soon, the fish suffocated and stopped flopping around. The old man and Rei pulled the boat closer with caution, wantng to get a better look at the aquatic beast.

Rei felt good about the last mission, her ingenuity and use of the element wind and environment around her had proved a successful "fishing" trip. With the large fish out of the picture, Rei hadn't gotten a mission from the great fisherman in several days: likely the old man was reclaiming his favorite fishing spot and helping the jumping fish repopulate the cove. However that worked, Rei wasn't really interested in finding out. While it was enjoyable to go on those missions with the old man, Rei didn't particularly enjoy the actual fishing itself, nor did she care to be called a fisherman. She was a shinobi and a prominent member of the illustrious Uchiha clan.

Most of the bite wounds from the prianha fish were healed for the most part, proper rest and application of remedies kept the wounds from getting infected or slow healing. Only a couple of the freshest bites remained and they were quite small now. Despite the minor wounds they had inflicted, the bites had been vicious enough to leave scars all over Rei's arms and chest. Small white scars dotted her upper body now, she was beginning to look like a seasoned shinobi even at her young age. While most might be uncertain how they felt about that bit of information, Rei felt proud of her accomplishments and scars: the only dark spot in her life had been of her failure in losing it and killing those children when she was young.

She had just put on her shirt after admiring her scars, a knock at the door brought her another mission. Lately she hadn't done any missions except for the great fisherman. The old man had requested her so much that the village had temporarily superseded all other missions in favor of the old fisherman. All missions that were supposed to go to Rei were pushed off onto others: anytime now Rei expected her normal missions would pick up and things would return to normal. Not yet though it seemed. She opened the mission scroll and immediately recognized the great fisherman's handwriting, written with great care it was still sloppy but she could tell that each stroke of the written mission was written carefully and with friendly affection. Another trip into the cove it seems, the old man intends to wipe out those murderous fish for good. Rei chuckled to herself after talking out loud.

She quickly finished getting dressed and tied her ninja pouch to her lower back. She left the house, locked the door and made the trek back to the docks for the unknown number of times by now in such a short period of her life. She had traveled around here so much that the people around the area expected her and waved to her in a somewhat friendly manner. They knew her name and didn't seem to pay much attention to the rumor of death that floated around her: to them at the docks and markets, she was known as the shinobi who had helped save their fishing business and kept the old great fisherman safe. She told herself that she should feel their gratitude and warmth, never eager to walk by here but she never regretted it.

Rei found the old man by his boat and tying on a new sail. The villagers had pulled together and afforded the great fisherman a new sail for his old ship. Rei walked up and greeted him and then helped the old man finish tying and securing the sail before they stopped to take a break. Thanks for the help Rei. In my old age, Im finding some of these things increasingly difficult. Rei just nodded, she knew that it was only a matter of time before the old man needed to retire, but she figured the old man was still fit enough and too stubborn to give up for a while. Together they set out towards the cove, this time Rei sitting in anticipation to see how the cove fared. The great fisherman's life had become a known and enjoyable part of Rei's missions and she enjoyed watching the old man show her the best fishing spots and the most effective fishing tricks.

They reached the cove and it seemed fine, calm and fresh water. Rei peered over the side and then quickly jerked away as a jumping fish appeared from the surface of the water and attempted to bite her nose. She and the fisherman chuckled, it was a good sign that the jumping fish were back. Alright Rei. As you can see, my fish are returning, but I fear there still might be murder fish eggs down in the cove waters. Can you go down there and be sure? Rei hid a frown, that task would be rather painful. Possible but a real pain. She nodded silently with a serious expression and the old man nodded back, thanking her profusely. Rei stood up at the edge of the boat and performed a handseal: a second 'her' appeared, a shadow clone. In the shadow clone went into the water and held her breathe as she looked around and swam about in several directions. Luckily the sun was at noontime and the sunlight was strong enough to pierce the water and provide the shadow clone with some lighting.

The shadow clone searched the immediate area and found nothing, but then she noticed a darker spot at the bottom of the cove. She began to swim in that direction but then from the darkness a dozen murder fish appeared from the hole and attacked the shadow clone. After several bites, the shadow clone disappeared into a puff of smoke. The information the shadow clone knew passed onto the real Rei and she understood, their egg spot was in a little cavern. She stood at the edge of the boat and performed the shadow clone handseal again, another clone appeared and dived into the water. It neared the hole and drew the attention of the murder fish and swam away rapidly. With the fish distracted, the real Rei jumped into the water and dived down into the cavern: she found the eggs glowing in the little cave.

Just as he reached the cavern in the water, she felt his shadow clone disappear and knew it had lost the swimming match with the murder fish. Quickly she performed some handseals Tiger → Horse → Boar → Ram → Rat → Snake went her hands and her raven hair thickened around her body and hardened just as the murder fish came into view of the cavern. She held her breathe and waited for them to come much closer. When they were nearly within arm's reach, the long hair around Rei's body suddenly burst outward into an explosion of small hair needles and shredded both the fish and the eggs in the cave. After a moment of complete skewering of the area, Rei was confident everything except from her in the cave was dead. She released the hold on the jutsu, her hair returned to normal and she swam up to the surface of water. She climbed into the boat, covered in fish guts and the old man patted her on the back.

This can't be good... Rei said out loud to herself as she watched the messenger deliver another mission to her house: normally a shinobi went to the mission board to pick up missions or was summoned by the kage and tasked with a mission. Rei only knew of one person who personally sent mission requests to Rei's place of residence. Recently Rei had helped the great fisherman with a series of missions that had started out small and escalated slowly into more troublesome tasks. Recently Rei had helped the old fisherman to clear out his favorite spot of murderous fish and even a aggressive fish as large as his small fishing boat. It had been several days since the old man had requested his help, so Rei had assumed that everything was returned to normal and she could once again begin her regular shinobi missions once again.

This wasn't the case however as Rei noticed the messenger head in her direction, there was one one person in this area that it could be going to. She stood on the outside of her house's front door as the messenger approached and handed her a scroll with mission details enclosed. Rei thanked the man in her even but cold way and then waited for the man to leave. After she was certain the man was gone, Rei unrolled the scroll and began to read it. Immediately she recognized the old fisherman's handwriting, this one sloppy and written with more urgency than usual. Rei quickly read it and read it again to ensure that she had read it properly. Still, she was having a hard time comprehending and accepting what was written on the mission. There are two of them now! she asked herself incredulously out loud as she gripped the scroll tightly.

Rei took the scroll inside and began to get dressed into her shinobi attire, she then attached her ninja pouch and made sure that her useful weapons were included. If there were two of these fish this time, Rei would need a bit more than just some wind to effectively take them out. After having been prepared, Rei set out towards the docks. She locked the door to her apartment and traveled along the path towards the docks. Citizens who saw her walking in that direction automatically assumed she was on her way once again to go help the great fisherman with his fishing work. It was a nice feeling to be recognized, but it bothered Rei- these ordinary civilians and villagers had been around to notice and expect Rei's routine over the past bit. If someone wanted her dead, she would have been a very easy target. I should start thinking about other paths to the docks instead of always taking this one. she made a mental note to herself to not be so predictable and complacent.

She arrived at the dock a few moments later, the old man wasn't by his boat. That somewhat confuse and concerned Rei. The young Uchiha had never seen that man anywhere but close to his boat and when he was at home asleep. Rei arrived at the boat shortly after walking around the length of the docks. Several fishermen were at work with their catches or their boats, but the old man wasn't among any of them. She stood by the boat for a few minutes before she finally spotted the great fisherman coming from the direction of his little house. They waved to each other from a distance and Rei noticed the old man was carrying a spear from a few decades ago. The old man noticed Rei eyeing the spear, once closer he held it up and explained. This spear belonged to my father. I went back to the house and fetched it for today. I know you can handle one fish, but I at least could offer help if we have to fight both fish at once. Rei nodded in an understanding way.

It's a good idea, old man. Let me do my thing first though: my mission to to protect you and kill those fish. If you get mixed up in the fight, I'll have more to worry about. Rei explained it in the nicest way she was capable of. The great fisherman frowned a bit, he understood but he didnt like the idea of his new found uchiha friend losing to a couple of large murder fish while he wasn't allowed to assist. Rei hadn't told him to not help, but just to wait until things looked desperate. He nodded reluctantly and placed the spear into the boat. Rei got into the boat and the old man followed: they set out of the docks and sailed in the direction of the favorite fishing spot. Several minutes passed, several long minutes as both the man and woman thought about the size of the last fish: now facing two of them seemed to be a daunting task.

They arrived at the cove before too long, once again the old man pulled out his long wooden rod and slowed the boat to a full stop before they reached the entrance of the cove. There was no need to stop and wait, the two fish were moving in a frisky manner at the water's surface. The two large fish circled each other and created a small whirlpool between them. The two are feeling each other out. It's like a mating dance to let each other know they are ready. I'm glad we got here before they mated, it makes things much easier without having to worry about eggs of such monstrous fish. Rei nodded in agreement and gulped at the sight. Getting too close with the boat would surely lead to the boat being destroyed and the two devoured.

Rei stood up in the boat and looked around, the trees were too small and her ninja tools were too small to effectively wound and hold two such fish. She needed a different method of attack. These two fish were staying near the surface of the water and seemed to have no intention of leaving the area: a smile crept across Rei's face as she devised a very simple plan. Sometimes the easiest plans were the most effective. She molded chakra in her gut and then mixed it with her doton affinity. Suddenly she opened her mouth and spat out a continual flow of rock that took form into a large powerful golem which fell into the water. The golem lunged forward, seizing the opportunity of the distracted fish and swatted at them. Underwater, the attack was less effective, but the golem possessed a lot of sheer power. Enough to wound the two startled fish. The two fish, noticing the interloper, swam around the rock golem, attempting to eat the rock monster to no avail. Noe after the next, the golem took turns grabbing the fish and ripping them apart piece by piece. Meaty chunks began to float to the surface. The jumping fish will clean up the water by tomorrow. Rei nodded, relieved to be done with such a tedious mission. With the fish dead and neither of them sustaining any injuries, they set back towards the docks and sailed peacefully. They docked the boat and made a few light hearted jokes about what could have went wrong and then set their separate ways.

Rei's was standing in a house that was a bit of a distance from the docks, but she heard a commotion from the general direction as some of the people began to flee. She walked outside the house in the early morning and began to drink from a cup of coffee as she saw some of the fishermen running away from the docks and headed towards the couriers office: likely to request the assistance of the village's shinobi for some trouble brewing at the docks. An innocent, naive and pure hearted shinobi might have rushed over to the docks immediately and offered their services freely, but that wasn't how the world of the shinobi worked most times. A village was sustained by its villagers and protected by its shinobi: in order for the village to stay protected and thrive, they had to spend ryo to motivate the shinobi and keep the village in balance. It seemed like a cruel method, but it was effective, kept the village alive for many many years and bred some of the most talented shinobi in the world.

Any shinobi could and some did indeed act of their own free will within the village and go out of their ways to assist the villagers. Rei was not one of those kind hearted and naive shinobi however: her goal was to survive any circumstance and amass so much power that she would be renowned as untouchable. She would take certain actions within the village to ensure its safety, but she wouldn't go out of her way to help the villagers with every little problem. If the shinobi ran and helped the villagers right away without compensation to the village for services rendered: villagers would stop paying and supporting the village government, shinobi wouldn't get paid and the shinobi would give up for a different line of work to feed their families. The cold hard truth of the shinobi world and how it worked in tandem with villagers was a necessity for survival, it was a system that worked and Rei wouldn't throw it off balance with a pointless sense of self justification to make her own soul feel good.

She stayed at the door of the house and sipped her hot coffee as she waited. Several fishermen had ran towards the courier to request missions, it was only a matter of time before someone was sent to dispatch Rei and some of the other shinobi around to deal with whatever problem was to arise. Rei knew who would send for her, being a long working shinobi partner to the great fisherman, Rei knew that soon she would receive word to help the old man at the docks. Sure enough, about half an hour later, a messenger quickly traversed her side of the village and handed Rei an urgent mission. Rei thanked the man in her usual manner and quickly unfolded the details of the mission in the scroll, she was more curious than concerned. She read through the mission and became a bit troubled: normally there was a direct enemy to confront and defeat to resolve the issue. There was no enemy apparently, just something beneath the surface causing large scale destruction to the docks in the deep water. Well old man, I'll be there in a few minutes. Don't get yourself into too much trouble. Rei said out loud even though the great fisherman couldn't hear her.

Rei returned to her house and put on her shinobi clothing and attached her ninja pouch to her lower middle back. Now fully physically prepared, she set out in the direction of the docks and began to mentally prepare herself for the possible hardships ahead. Few seemed to notice her on his way to the docks, she had chosen a different route than her usual one. She had become too predictable over the last bit and didn't wish for someone to get the drop on her. Not that it was much of a concern right now, people were too concerned with running away from the docks to worry about a shinobi headed towards the docks.

She noticed it even before she reached the docks. Something out in the water was making a large amount of ruckus and destruction to the wooden docks out in the deep water. The splashes and flailing were enough to send medium sized waves of water in the surrounding area and caused small bits of water to rain down like a constant raining storm. That has to be some kind of fish or something... Rei told herself as she watched the splashing and flailing... she didn't have any desire to find out for certain however. Luckily, her mission wasn't to slay it.

I'm here old man, let's get your fishing boat out and away from that...thing. she said to the great fisherman as she walked up behind the old man. The old man greeted her and nodded in agreement: neither he or Rei wanted to fight whatever was beneath the water's surface, they had seen their fair share of murder fish. Rei set about securing all of the loose belongings inside the old man's boat and then explained the plan to the great fisherman. We're going to carry your little sailing boat around the side of the dock and push off from the shore of that adjacent bank to the right. It was a simple method and the old man agreed fully, it was better than fighting passed that whatever it was. Together Rei and the old man lifted the little boat up to their shoulder level and hefted the ship around the inner side of the dock, closest to dry land. They walked with the boat for several feet and then would set it down to rest for a few minutes: while not super heavy, it was bulky and caused them to walk awkward. They repeated this process of picking it up and setting it down until they reached the other bank and set the boat into the water. The old man climbed into the boat and thanked Rei for her assistance: all Rei had to do was wait now until the old man returned from his fishing trip, though Rei hoped that the underwater flailing would stop by then. She didn't like the idea of a boat full of fish needing to be lifted and carried. She wasn't that strong.

With a little bit of explanation and instructions, the old man pushed off from the bank in his little boat and set towards his favorite fishing spot. Rei would have tagged along with him, but it was likely she would be needed in this area before too much longer. It was important to be nearby in case she was needed. Rei stood and sat on the bank for a couple of hours as she watched the flailing in the water: it stopped occasionally as if whatever beneath the surface of the water was resting. I wonder whose job it will be to stop that thing... Rei thought to herself, feeling sorry for whoever took on the responsibility of slaying whatever was destroying the docks. Finally the old man returned, Rei was surprised that he had so little in his boat, only a bucket full of fish. Rei gave him a questioning look and the old man just sighed.

Whatever is in the water and causing all of that ruckus has scared away most of the fish in this area. I hope it is taken care of soon...

Bandits just on the outskirts of the village? What else was new? Rei had accepted a B Rank mission. This was her first mission since Rin's death: she didn't need anyone else, she didn't want anyone else. She carried the love and memories of both Rin and Yin on her shoulders: the darkness they gave her was all she needed and she would prove it. This mission report is quite informative... Rei said out loud to herself as she led off her voice in a silent trail of thinking. Whoever had recorded this mission and the details must have been good at spying: Rei could think of one shinobi with such a skill.

The young Uchiha had recently been recognized for her skill and was now recognized by her village for the hard work and dedication she showed, even despite those close to her always dying. Some in the village had started a rumor that anyone who got too close to Rei would eventually die a regrettable death. This rumor steered the majority of people away from Rei, even some of the other shinobi. That didn't phase Rei at all, in fact, it seemed very accurate. Truth as it was, even if hard truth: Rei enjoyed the rumor. It kept almost everyone away from her, she had no desire to socialize or get close to anyone else: this rumor just served as an indirect method to prevent people subconsciously from approaching her. The last thing she wanted was for another shinobi or citizen to die because of their own incompetence.

Rei sat at a table in a shop not too far away from the gates of the village, she had been looking over the details of the mission she had been given. Her mind had gotten lost for a moment in the rumor that had spread like wildfire about the Uchiha woman. Rei was a prodigy in her clan, having mastered three elements at such a young age. She was the epitome of the darkness the clan possessed behind their cursed eyes, yet she had still to awaken their gift. Rei wasn't a boastful person, nor humble- she was simply just uncaring and indifferent to everything at this point. She had her goals and her cursed eyes were set on that path: she needed those eyes of course, no one would deter her from it. She rolled up the scroll with the mission details and stuffed it into her ninja pouch, it was time to go on the hunt. Soon enough, these bandits would regret having taken up roost right out side of the village. It was a disgrace to the village and the shinobi, especially the founding Uchiha of the village. These bandits thought little of the shinobi, thinking their large numbers could prove a tide turner in a battle. Unfortunately for them, Rei didn't have a battle planned for them, only a massacre.

Rei was a young shinobi by most standards, though at the proper age for a C Rank. She possessed inherent high levels of skill and intellect, what she couldn't make up for in complete jutsu firepower, she could make up in tactics and manpulation. The Uchiha walked passed the gates, her long raven black Uchiha hair swaying from side to side as she regarded the guards at the gate. No longer did she bother to show them her mission papers as she used to. The guards of the gate had seen her so often and always known her to be on a mission, never bothered to ask for her paperwork anymore. That and they were fearful to simply talk to her. The rumor floating around and the aura Rei gave off was just too dark for them.

Rei left the village and headed into the area just outside the village where the bandits were said to be located. An out right attack would be foolish even if it was successful, Rei had thought of another way to kill the bandits and put the fear into any survivors to convince them to never return.

She found them not too far away, quite bold and in an open field even with no cover. They sat around a camp fire during the early evening when the sun was beginning to set. They were enjoying a cooked meal from one of their members who seemed to be skilled in cooking. Behind the group was a pile of merchandise they had looted from a dead merchant they killed recently. Rei didn't attack just yet, she watched them and waited for what she expected: while the mission report hadn't expressed a clear number of bandits, Rei counted at least twelve. Some carried weapons and the others seemed to carry themselves with some shinobi skill: possibly they knew some basic ninjutsu. Rei wouldn't need anything too fancy to take out these bandits.

She watched them for half an hour and kept track of the road behind her hiding place: sure enough, two of them had felt the urge to "relieve" themselves after the meal. The first one walked near Rei's hiding place in the bushes and readied up against a tree, Rei stepped out from hiding and walked right passed the man as she dragged a kunai against the man's throat. The man gargled in his own blood silently as he fell to the ground thrashing wildly. The second man was not too far away with his back turned to his peeing companion for modesty: the second bandit hadn't realized what happened to his first companion. As Rei dragged the kunai across the first bandit's neck, she continued to walk past him and threw the second kunai true. The kunai traveled the short distance and embedded itself deep into the spine in the man's neck. The bandit's body stiffened, his muscles locking up as his eyes rolled in the back of his head.

Rei performed a handseal and three shadow clones appeared beside her. Two of the clones performed their own handseals and used the transformation technique to disguise themselves as the two slain bandits. They took their weapons and headed back towards the camp of the remaining ten bandits. The shadow clones mingled in with the ten and made small talk, pretending to be very tired after the large meal. All of the bandits had eaten well and drank for a little "celebration" of the spoils they had accumulated recently. Rei waited until the bandits were all comfortable and relaxed: then she had the third use the transformation technique to look like one of the two slain bandits.

That shadow clone rushed forward into the camp waving its arms and yelling like a madman, Imposters! They killed my buddy and are using us as disguises! There are enemies in our midst! yelled Rei's third shadow clone. The agitated voice and words stirred up fear and violence in the ten remaining bandits. One of her shadow clones took the advantage to use the sword she took and trike down another bandit.

That's one of the guys! yelled her second shadow clone as she struck down another bandit. Two bandits dead before their allies eyes, the remaining eight bandits went into a fearful frenzy and began to slash out at the closest bodies for their own survival. One by one they cut each other down, including two of three of Rei's own shadow clones. By the time things died down, only two bandits remained, not including Rei's last shadow clone. The shadow clone picked up a fallen bandits sword and drove it through one of the two remaining bandit's hearts and the blood splattered on the last bandit. The bandit screamed in fear and ran off into the darkness of the forest for survival. Rei's shadow clone let go of the sword and let it fall with the corpse. The shadow clone disappeared and Rei turned around and left the campsite, that remaining bandit wouldn't ever return, likely.

Boar hunting? It didn't sound that appealing to the uchiha, but it paid the bills and it was a mission given to her by the village. She would do it of course. Some chef had requested the village's shinobi go out and slay a number of wild boar and return them to his shop so he could process the meats for his restaurant. It sounded like an easy enough job, though fighting wild boar without adequate skill or tools could be potentially deadly. Boar were a vicious sub-race of pigs, possessing long and sharp tusks meant for goring predators and anything else that got in its way. In this case, a young shinobi seeking them out for someone else' profit. This is going to be interesting... she told herself as she prepared for the day and then left the village gates as she showed the guards his mission papers.

Rei had done something similar in the not too distant past. There had been a small pack of wolves that he had taken as a mission to rid the village roads of the wolves that attacked travellers. Back then, she had matched their numbers and out-maneuvered them because of their predictable actions and terrain. Boar were quite different though, they were less predictable and more wild: while possibly easier to take out, miscalculation on their unruly and wild nature and actions could result in a serious injury. The Uchiha was confident though, she had enough weapons and plenty of skill to take out the boar requested for the mission. I just need to separate three of them. She told herself as a plan began to formulate in her mind.

She traveled a short distance to where the herd of boar were often spotted, as luck would have it, the herd was out in the open of a field and grazing in a relaxed manner. A simple projectile wouldn't be enough to take a boar down, they had a tough hide and a small brain that prevented them from realizing grievous injuries. This would be harder than she originally thought. Rei performed a few quick handseals and created four more clones of herself, in total, there were five of her now. Two stayed at the rear while the other three circled around the side and positioned themselves behind trees at the front of the herd. The plan was simple enough. The two clones from behind jumped out with Erebus and began to yell loudly and wave their arms as they chased after the back of the herd. Startled, the boar began to run forward and away from their attackers from behind. Before they could pick up too much speed, the two rear clones lunged down upon the nearest boar. One clone held the boar down while the second clone slit the boar's throat.

The three ahead were ready for the herd, they stayed hidden behind the cover of the trees while the herd ran through the thick brush and only revealed themselves as the last of the herd neared them. They suddenly jumped out with Erebus and fell upon two more boar. One clone each had knocked a boar over and was wrestling it while the real Rei took turns running from one boar to the other and slit their throats. The three boards choked on their own blood and suffocated before they bled out all the way. With the help of her four clones, they comfortably carried the three large boar back to the village and handed them over to the chef. Not only had she obtained a boar, but three at that!

Keep turning that lever! You don't want your ship to get sunk, do ya?! the great fisherman yelled at someone as if he were a drill instructor at a military academy, he stood beside the man and helped the man turn the lever over and over as they pulled the line tight and slowly dragged a stray fishing vessel from being adrift. Whatever was beneath the water was seriously pissed off and the splashes it was making were enough to make ships that were not tied down properly, break free from the docks and float freely towards the center of the commotion. The great fisherman had already seen three such ships fall victim to this, the ships had gone to the center and were smashed to bits by the flailing waters and then sunk. As a sailor once and of course, the great fisherman. The old man refused to see anymore ships go down needlessly due to the random violent flailing of whatever was beneath the surface of the water. As the most recent ship had broken free of its poor dock anchoring and tying, the great fisherman had thrown a line and large hook across the water and into the boat to catch it. He had wrapped the rope around an anchor handle and was turning the lever to draw the ship back in to the shore. The owner of the ship, had jumped in to help him when he realized what was happening. Together the two men struggled to pull in the heavy fishing ship against the rough waves caused by the flailing.

They groaned and struggled as they pulled hard on the lever and managed to bring the ship halfway in: a sudden snap of the line though caused both men to fall backwards as the taught line lost grip and broke. The ship began to roll with the waves back out towards the open sea. The owner of the ship jumped up and jumped in the water after the boat, the old man stood up and grabbed another rope. Don't be a fool! Take this with you and tie it to the ship so we can haul it in! He attached a hook to the end of the rope and tossed it into the water. The ship owner grabbed the rope and began to swim towards his ship to tie it down. The old man nodded his head in approval, this young sailor was fit an apparently fearless, he must have really cared for that ship.

A frown crossed his face though as he saw a shadow beneath the surface of the water, one shadow followed by another... twelve in total and they were swimming quickly towards the man in the water from his left side. The great fisherman sensed danger and began to wave his arms and shout, Hey! Get out of the water quickly! There's something in the water swimming straight towards you! he yelled loudly to warn the swimmer. The fisherman stopped swimming and listened to the great fisherman's warning, he turned in the direction the old man pointed and he too saw the shadows, it looked like a school of fish? It was too late for the swimmer though, just as he realized the danger he was in, the shadow under the water descended upon him. Without any visible signs of harm, the man began to scream in pain, panic and terror entering his voice as the quick seconds went by. Even though the water wasn't calm and waves were crashing around, the old fisherman was watching in horror as the man's red lifeblood began to fill the water around where the fisherman swam. Murderfish! cried the old man in his mind as he saw the small piranha fish feasting on the man's now still corpse.

The great fisherman swallowed hard, he himself had almost jumped into the water after the ship: if the younger fisherman hadn't jumped first, then the old fisherman would have been the one who had died that terrible death. He cleared his thoughts and raised his voice to those around him. No one get into the water! There are flesh eating fish in the waters! He turned his gaze to the rope that now drifted aimlessly, he grabbed it and pulled it in, its length of rope was dyed red, soaked in the dead man's blood. He shook his head in pity and stood on the docks as he watched the dead man's ship drift towards the currents and then get smashed against the unforgiving waves, its timber and rigging flying everywhere. What floated in the water, drifted aimlessly with the waves, but the rest of it sunk to the bottom of the dark waters. We need someone here to stop this madness! said the old man, then he noticed something weird, shadows around his very own little ship. Alarmed, he walked quickly over to the boat and saw the group of murderfish around his boat and biting at the bottom.

*****

Rei was walking quickly towards the docks, right now se didn't care what path she took. People were running away from the docks, surely to seek the help of the village's powerful shinobi. Normally, Rei wouldn't include herself in such a troublesome event. This was different however, the old fisherman, having the foresight to request the village's help in the matter before things became too dangerous, had asked for Rei personally on this mission. Unlike the missions Rei had done before, this mission by far was the most difficult and highest assigned one to her. By official rank, this mission was ranked as S Rank. The importance and difficulty were both high, the damage and emergency was in the little village's own waters with the village's citizens at risk of death. Rei had been tasked with this mission just before the latest fit of flailing had begun. Her task was to assist the great fisherman in whatever task he needed accomplished.

No no no! What are you doing to my boat! Get away from it! Rei heard the familiar voice, though she recognized the sense of fear and urgency in the voice. The was the voice of the great fisherman: Rei turned her gaze in the direction, the spot where the great fisherman and his small boat were always docked on the left side of the docks. She saw the old man and his ship, the great fisherman was running circles around his precious little two-man boat and waving his arms like a wild man. Rei, sensing the danger and seriousness of the situation, picked up her speed into a straight dash. In mere seconds she had dashed across the whole length of the docks and appeared beside the old man who was swatting at fish around his boat with his bare hands.

Rei recognized the fish. Murderfish! she exclaimed in an alarmed manner in her mind and instantly grabbed the old man and pulled him away from the docks just before a murderfish jumped out of the water in an attempt to bite the old man's arm. Old man! Why are there murderfish so close to this village?! The old man tried to pull away from Rei, but the young Uchiha shinobi was much too strong for him in his feeble age.

He reached out with his hand in a desperate attempt to save his boat. I don't know Rei, but please save my ship! It was an odd request but Rei understood the importance and sentiment of the old man, this was his way of life and means of survival. She nodded silently in a serious manner and ran around the back side of the small boat and grabbed a hold of the boat's back end. She sucked in a large burst of air and strained her muscles as she lowered her legs into a defensive stance and heaved upwards with her upper strength. The back end of the boat lifted out of the water and Rei began to stagger her steps backwards as she slowly pulled the boat up onto the dry docks. With the boat safely on the docks, she was now tasked with killing the fish who were attacking the old man's boat for some reason.

Two of the murderfish were still attached to the hard wood of the ship, their teeth dug into the wood. Rei effortlessly slapped the bottom of the boat, the fish getting squashed between the boat's wood and Rei's hand. Her strength was great indeed. The two dead fish were quickly gobbled up by the remaining ten murderfish as the corpses fell into the water, two down and ten to go... This isn't so ba-....awww come on! she had began to say and then finished with exasperation. Having killed two of the fish, the blood that had gotten into the water had put the remaining ten murderfish into a frenzy, not only that, but Rei could see a row of five large fish turning in her direction: Rei already knew what those were... those were the kind of giant fish she had helped the old man kill before in his favorite fishing spot!

While the little murderfish were only a threat to the boat if it was in the water: the larger fish would crush the boat if even one of them jumped out of the water and managed to hit the boat! As if the fish were reading her mind, the first one in line jumped straight into the air and sailed across the open waters as its large body attempted to smash the old man's boat. Rei intersected it, as the fish came down, she jumped up and kicked the side of the fish and steered it off course. The large fish landed onto the docks and got stuck as it broke halfway through the planks. It began to sink through the boards and Rei acted quickly, with her fist, she grabbed deep into its exposed underbelly and gutted the fish. As the fish's corpse fell into the water, its blood and intestines fell out. The small murderfish and the large one all went straight for the blood and began to devour the large corpse. With all the fish in one spot, they were just begging the crazy girl to do something ingenious. Boar → Ox → Technique specific seal went her hands as she mixed doton chakra into the earth below the water. Suddenly, the ground beneath the water collapsed on itself into a deep crack. The immediate water and all the fish were drawn inside and crushed as the ground caved in.

Rei opened her eyes, it was still quite dark, she wasn't sure if it was morning or evening. Some noise had awoken her from her fitful slumber, then she heard it again- she recognized it right away. She sat up suddenly and turned her head in the direction of the singular window in the room. A messenger falcon was sitting on the window ledge and tapping her window every few seconds to get her attention. It was raining outside and every now and again Rei could hear thunder, knowing lightning had stricken somewhere on the land and left a scar. She stood up from her bed and went over to the window and slid it open: the messenger falcon immediately hopped inside and began to shake itself free of the droplets of water that had built up on its feathers. She took the scroll off of its protective case on the back of the falcon and scratched the little feathered messenger's beak. You can stay here until the rain lets up if you like.  Rei said to the messenger falcon, not necessarily expecting it to understand, but either way, she would leave the window open and allow the falcon choose when it desired to leave. The little bird had already completed its mission in delivering her the message: now it just sat idly on the inner dry part of the window seal and watched the pouring rain come down.

Rei didn't like this one bit but she didn't say anything, much too tired for complaining. She opened the scroll and spread it out all the way to rad the whole thing. She flipped on a small lamp to provide some light to read the message in the dark: she blinked twice and then realized that this was a mission. She skimmed it to catch the key phrases and then proceeded to thoroughly read and understand it. This was another S Rank mission of the same as her last: another fit from the sea around the docks of the smaller village had stirred up more murderfish, both big and small sized. No doubt, she would have to help the old man save his fishing boat again. Rei stood up suddenly with a sense of urgency, quickly replaced by common sense. If she was going to do this hard mission, she better put on more clothing than just her panties. Quickly but skillfully she wrapped up her arms and legs in tight white bandages and then threw on her 3/4 length black pants and black long sleeve shirt. She slipped on her shinobi sandals and then zipped up her dark grey flak jacket. She grabbed her ninja pouch and tied it to her back as she headed towards the door. Leaving the building, she locked it quickly and then headed towards the docks. I hope the old man hasn't gotten himself in too much trouble this time. rei said to herself in her mind, being concerned for the old man she was fond of somehow.

*****

You little bastards! I'll get you so help me! Son of a-! continued on the old man in the darkness of the night as he stabbed his old war spear into the water over and over in a vain attempt to stab and kill the murderfish near his boat. He managed to stab one of them but before he could lift it out of the water, the other small murderfish near it devoured its corpse and let the old man pull his spear up without anything to catch. He muttered under his breathe, his curses getting louder each time he missed. Few people were around the docks, most people had left the docks until the flailing had stopped, they had already lost a lot of equipment such as ships, tools and even some fishermen's lives themselves. Only the most stubborn and oldest of fishermen had stayed and continued to fight against the ocean's flailing. Now as common knowledge, none of the people went into the water for fear of being devoured alive by big or small slaughter fish. Every now and then along the docks was located a fisherman with either a fishing spear or a sharp farming tool as they attempted to spear the small fish and remove them from the waters. It didn't seem to matter what they did though, if they killed one fish, the others would just devour the dead and have their bellies fed. These fish seemed to have a high metabolism though, an hour or so later and they fish would be right back at it. By keeping up this game of poke with the murderfish, the seasoned fisherman had slowed down the amount of damage that the murderfish had done overall, but they were starting to get very tired, including the old man himself.

You should take a rest old man! Rei said out loud as she grabbed the end of the small fishing boat and heaved it back up onto the dock which was now scarred with rub marks and where one large fish had previously crashed through the thick planks. The old great fisherman recognized Rei's voice and laughed for the first time in many hours at the young Uchiha shinobi's timing. Rei had helped him since earlier: never had the girl failed him, her skill and ingenuity were high, but then again so was her luck. With Rei here, the great fisherman felt relieved already, though he wasn't sure how they would solve this predicament. Last time they had gotten a good stroke of luck and had managed to destroy most of the fish with a well placed technique. This time though, it was dark and difficult to see: not to mention all of the fish were spread out over the rest of the fishermen who fought back. Rei placed a hand over the boat and inspected the damage, much less than last time, that was a good piece of information. It seems your little boat is safe, now we just need to kill those remaining fish.

The old man nodded and hoisted his old spear up, I managed to kill two of those buggers with my spear.... but the other fish ate them even before I could get them out of the water! he exclaimed in both anger and amazement. Aggressive little bastards, the scent and taste of the blood in the water always drove them into a heated frenzy where even the most logical of creatures would think better of their standing. These murderfish were intelligent but when they tasted blood and flesh, they lost all sense of reasoning and threw themselves at the source. By now both Rei and the great fisherman had realized that these fish enjoyed and targeted the small boat the great fisherman owned was because his boat's wood had many times soaked in the blood of their own kin. These frenzied fish were targeting his boat because they could still taste and smell the leftover blood from the boat's hard wood.

Hey! Bring those buckets of fish parts over here and stop fighting the fish over there! Rei took charge, demanding the remaining fisherman to stop getting the attention of the fish they were fighting and bring her the buckets of chopped up fish parts. Unsure of what else to do, the fishermen complied, but mostly because Rei demanded in such a way of authority and left no reason to debate. They pulled their makeshift weapons out of the water and grabbed the buckets of fish entrails and chopped off fish heads, quickly they came over to Rei and the great fisherman and listened for instructions. Rei frowned, she could already see several large movements in the water, this could be quite easy or quite difficult if not done right. I want all of you to dumb the buckets of fish parts in one spot and then run for your lives. Those large fish will notice the fish parts and come rushing in, I can't guarantee your safety if you stay here. Understanding the plan now, the fishermen nodded, Rei turned to the great fisherman too. You too old man, I can't have you here and slowing me down. I would have to divide my attention to protect you.

The old man understood, if it had been anyone else, the great fishermen might have argued with them about how helpful he could be... but Rei was an oddity, she worked best when she was alone. With no one to worry about, she could do plenty of wondrous things. You are a lot more kind of a person than you realize, young Rei. the old man said to himself in his mind, Rei was always thinking about the safety of others despite their often bad rumors and feelings of her: or at least that was what he wished to think. He was glad that he had first met Rei and gotten her to come and help on many of his fishing trips. Over the course of time and helping the great fishermen, the other fishermen and market people had come to know her name for positive reasons, respect her and look forward to her visits to the docks and market. Alright girl, but don't do anything foolish. Rei couldn't promise him anything, so she just smiled a grim smile and motioned for the fishermen to start. Up their buckets and went turned them upside down as a vile smell of rotting meats were dumped into the waters.

It had gotten a bit lighter and Rei could make out the shadowy forms of several fish, including a large handful of large fish, all rushing near her location. Up her hands went into handseals Boar → Ox → Technique specific seal. When the large fish were close enough, they opened their mouths and began to eat: in their frenzy, they didnt care that the smaller murderfish were there as well and eagerly gobbled up everything. The smaller murderfish, not realizing their bad positioning, had gotten to the meats first and began to goggle them up. Behind them had come the five larger murderfish and ate the little fish along with the mass of fish guts. So engrossed were the fish in the meaty chunks that they failed to realize their own downfall. Like the previous time, the crazy girl utilized the earth beneath the troubled waters to suck the fish into the ground and crush them. All that remained were small fragments of meat and some blood dyed water here and there.

You can't be serious? A giant fish? That size? Rei said out loud, more exclaiming than asking herself as she read the report. There was no way a fish could be that size and survive, let alone go undetected during its several stages of growth and travel. It did however make sense when offering a subtle explanation as to the unknown flailing at the docks of the small village: few things could make waves that size and destroy fishing boats, though a giant fish seemed to be the less likely of the choices. The bigger question was how Rei intended to defeat such a fish? Could she defeat something that size? If her recent encounters were any kind of marker for the kind of fight she was in for, then she was in some serious trouble. Her recent fish opponents had been the murderfish, flesh eating piranhas of a couple different sizes but both very vicious. The smaller piranha which could barely fit in one hand, and then of course the large piranha which was the size of the great fisherman's small fishing boat. Rei and the great fisherman had assumed that the large fish was a mature fish and the parents of the smaller murderfish, but then their assumption was brought into question as the fish beneath the waters of the small village had emerged from the flailing surface.

By all reports, the giant fish was roughly the size of a full two story building with a giant mouth and many sharp rows of teeth. The "mature" piranha apparently. Questions had risen about how to deal with such a large and ferocious fish, but of course only one individual's name stood out during the questions: the very shinobi who had assisted the great fisherman on many missions for his fishing runs and most recently defending the docks and protecting the boats from the murderfish: Rei Uchiha. Normally, one would feel honored to be the only soul in everyone's mind to solve such an important problem... but the problem at hand was literaly a monster of great proportions and just thinking about facing such a beast provided no amusement, joy or feelings of satisfaction. For once in her life, Rei felt as though she was embarking on a task much too complicated an dangerous for her skills.

She thought of a couple different methods: she had used similar tactics and the earth to take out fish. An explosion underwater had an amplified effect with sound waves and shock waves. An explosion underwater was so jarring and lethal to underwater life that it could be used effectively with fishing to kill countless fish and simply wait for them to float to the surface and scoop out their bodies. Naturally, fishermen disapproved of such uses in fishing, that wasn't fishing, it was a poor method of slaughter and most fishermen wouldn't approve of or use such methods. That being said, this was a crisis and it wasn't technically fishing, it was a mission to protect the villagers of the small village from a giant ravenous fish in the docks that prevented anyone from utilizing the ocean. If something wasn't done about the fish, the village would be in jeopardy, plus another village could see the giant fish's havoc as an opening in the village's weakness and strike at the village. This fish needed to be dealt with swiftly and in an appropriate manner. I might have to do that... Rei thought inward to herself, but not really believing she would have to go that far to defeat a mere fish.

****

Get those boats secured! If that monster comes near the docks, run for your lives, don't be a fool! yelled the great fisherman as he yelled at people and directed them to secure their boats so they weren't washed away and destroyed by the large carnivorous fish at sea. He stood tall, standing on several crates to provide himself with an aerial advantage over everyone else and the surrounding waters. By now he had figured out that this giant fish had been the flailing beast beneath the surface some time ago and it was the cause of the other smaller murderfish. If they could somehow defeat this fish, then the waters would return to normal without having to worry about such aggressive and dangerous flesh eating fish! But how were they going to deal with such a fish? If we could get enough explosives... we could rig a ship and steer it into the fish's mouth and make it explode... but someone would have to sacrifice themselves for that.. I would do it, but we don't even have that kind of explosive firepower! He had almost made his thoughts known to the other fishermen, but where would they get such explosives? If he offered a half-baked idea, he might as well have provided useless ideas like everyone else was offering.

Someone said maybe they could all go out in their boats and stab it to death, nope... that would just get them all killed and piss off the giant fish, likely antagonizing it into ramming the docks for something even worse. What if it could jump out of the water like its smaller forms? A fish that size could easily crush the docks and everyone on it! That's a big fish... a familiar voice said in awe and trailing off to a silent gulp. The great fisherman recognized the voice, the young Uchiha who had gone on many fishing missions with him and had never failed him. One way or another, Rei Uchiha had found a method for defeating the fish which barred her way and her dream of fishing. Even now, this giant piranha fish was blocking her and every other fisherman's dream of fishing. If they couldn't fish, they couldn't provide their families with food or money, nor could the markets provide other families fresh fish for their food source.

Rei my girl! I'm glad you finally made it! Now, please! Do something about that damned monster! the great fisherman begged, nearly in tears from all the stress and fear he had thought about that came along with the monster fish. Rei frowned. She had come here with the idea of using all the remainder of her chakra and blowing the fish up: she had counted out about six jutsu, but upon seeing the actual giant carnivorous fish, it would be close to impossible to get all six jutsu on without being killed in the process. Being in the water, the fish may have a large body but just moving around would cause large waves of water- in water, it would be a lot more agile than they might think. Getting too close to such a fish would surely spell the end for them. You've got a plan right? Going to blow it up? Just tell us what you need, my girl. said the fisherman, the other fishermen around nodded, eagerly willing to give up a ship if they had to. All of them were thinking of the same thing, sacrifice a ship and possibly a life to blow up that monstrous fish.

Rei looked around, many of these faces were morbid, thinking they that might be the one to sacrifice themselves, but all very willing. Rei held up a hand to stop all their talking, they stopped and listened eagerly. None of you will be dying today so long as I am here. I won't allow the villagers to be sacrifices. he said, not intentionally sounding like someone who cared for others... It was just his nature to protect the mission and the people within the village even if she held no personal stake. This village and the people in it were the people that both Yin and Rin cared for, people that Rei had promised both of them that she would protect: if she couldn't protect them, she didn't deserve to have been loved by her sister and girlfriend.

Spoken like the clan leader himself... but what do you plan to do girl? You haven't told us what you are planning! That was the rub, Rei didn't really have a plan, but she did have something that was powerful enough to destroy this fish, she just didn't want others to be around to see it.

Bring me a small and fast boat, I promise to return it to you safely. Unsure but surely to follow Rei's advice, one of the younger experienced fishermen offered to lend Rei his little fishing boat, which Rei thankfully took for the plan she had in mind. Whatever happens, do not come out into the water. Wait for me to return. she said as she stood up in the boat and looked up on the docks to all the fishermen with grim faces. They didn't like the idea of leaving her to fend for herself, but they would listen to her instructions, if they didn't, they risked her failing and losing her and possibly their very own lives. Rei sailed out towards the fish, its large beady eyes were upon her little  ship as its enormous mouth hung open slightly as if it were hungry for a decent meal.

The fish's presence and location was an eyesore to Rei, for quite some time now that fish had stayed beneath the surface of the water, caused much trouble, stress and even the lives of multiple fishermen in the village. Now it had revealed its presence and stood barring the way to the ocean to prevent the village from utilizing the salt water fishing to supply the village with the needed materials. The fish's first mistake had been causing the village harm, its last mistake had been revealing itself in such a bold and foolish manner. Rei stood at the front of the ship as she went further towards the fish, she could tell that the fish was watching her, its giant beady eyes waiting until she reached a specific location before it would bear down on her and devour her, ship and all. Rei wouldn't allow things to get that far however. She reached a safe distance with the giant fish in plain view, her pause in place had caused the fish to pause as well as it thought about whether or not it should just attack or continue waiting.

That would be the last coherent thought it would have. Suddenly, lightning erupted from around Rei's body, for a couple second, the lightning was mild and only disturbed her hair a little. Then, the lightning surged even greater, causing her hair to spike in a wild dangerous manner as her body was engulfed in the lightning. Her body was greatly amplified by the powerful electricity running through her muscles: a single bend in her leg and dash caused her to leap forward, much too quick for the fish's simple mind to perceive the movement. The dash brought Rei right into the line of the fish's paused movement. With Erebus on her arms, she bore down on the fish's face with all her might and struck the fish. The power of her jutsu and weapons, combined with her monstrous strength, was enough to cause the fish's face to explode into chunks of meat as Rei crashed through its brain. Only a moment later, Rei was covered in blood as the fish's corpse floated lifeless, dying the water red. Countless smaller muderfish swarmed the area and began to eat the chunks of their parent. Rei tapped the water with her foot, the lightning from LRA shocked the water and fried the school of fish. All the fish floated belly up, smelling bad from the improper cooking method, but at least they were dead and very few small fish remained. Few enough that with the help of some other shinobi and diligence, they could rid their village of the water menace that had plagued them for a while. That was enough for Rei though, she hopped back into the boat, deactivated LRA and rode the boat back to the docks.
