Mission:
Mission Name: Clean the area
Rank: D
Type: NPC
Client: People of the land
Exp/Ryo Reward: 300ryo
Mission Description:  Some kids painted graffiti on the outside of some of the buildings in the clan area. Clean it.
Location: Heaven's Blossom
Additional Information: 300WC
Eligible Members: Any

Rei sighed as she held a bucket of paint in her hand and a single paintbrush. Both were new, the paintbrush and the bucket full of pain. This was a very simple D Rank mission that Rei had been tasked to her, painting. It wasn't just painting of course, it was covering up some bad art also known as graffiti. This graffiti was placed on the outside of the village's walls and was an eyesore to both the inhabitants as well as travelers. Luckily, the wall was a single solid color and wouldn't need much work at all to cover up the obscene art work by some unruly children. It hadn't been too many years ago that she watched kids her age do the same thing while she was part of the outsiders. She had never done something like that, she had too much pride for her clan and village to disgrace it by writing inappropriate stuff on it. If she had seen these children doing this, she would have gave them a good knock on the head. Or at least that was what rational told her she should do.

She arrived at the destination of where the graffiti had been scribbled. Kids these days have no artistic talent. She said as she chuckled out loud, whoever had done this graffiti sucked at art. Possibly they had been dared or peer-pressured by their fellows into doing it. She squatted by the wall and used a kunai to pry open the bucket of pain: she dipped in the paintbrush and stirred the paint until it was consistent and thick. She slathered the wall with the paintbrush and stroked it back and forth while occasionally dipping the paintbrush back into the bucket to renew the layer of fresh paint. Any good artist knew that a good paint job required two coats of paint. After finishing the first coat, she waited till it dried and then applied the second coat fr an even and clean look to match the rest of the wall. There we go... now, I hope the guards find those troublesome kids.

Mission:
Mission Name: Lost cat
Rank: D
Type: NPC
Client: People of the land
Exp/Ryo Reward: 300ryo
Mission Description: An elderly lady in the clan has lost her cat. It has been spotted through out the village. Capture the cat without injuring it and return it the elderly lady.
Location: Heaven's Blossom
Additional Information: 300WC
Eligible Members: Any

Each and every job was important to the village, Rei had to continually tell herself this as she was handed some of the weakest and less important jobs. This one in particular was a job to find a missing cat for an old lady. Yes missions were to help those within the village of course, especially provided they had the ryo to support the mission and keep the village safe. Rei sighed as she walked along the streets of the village, ignoring the majority of the people she passed and only paying some attention to those shinobi with visible weapons, and of course the occasional pretty girl. Most of her focus was on finding this old lady's cat and returning it to her. The small mission pamphlet stated the spots the cat had been recently seen at. Rei studied the little map and the positions the cat was known to visit: all of which were businesses with typical cat-loving food. She smirked as she figured out the cat's intent, but it also made her wonder how many times this cat had escaped to know and visit these places in routine?

It wasn't her job, her job was simply to catch the cat and return it to the old lady. Excuse me sir, but may I have a piece of that fish? Rei asked a merchant chef who was tossing out scraps from old recipes. The man looked at her odd but shrugged his shoulders and walked off, a shinobi could dig through his trash if it was important. Rei held up a straight face and politely waited for the man to disappear back into the shop before she grabbed a partially used napkin and picked up the cooked fish. It was freshly cooked and still smelled yummy. She walked around for a few minutes until she spotted the cat- it was sitting outside on a bench, just waiting for the shop owner to throw out fresh food. Rei shook her head and then slowly approached the cat and set the cooked fish near it. Here kitty kitty~ she coo'd at the cat and watched as the nose twitched and the cat took interest in the fish. It strolled over to the fish with little regard for Rei and bit into the fish. Rei sat down beside the cat and let the cat finish its little meal while she petted it, keeping her hand on it to prevent it from bolting away. After the little meal was over, she picked the purring cat up and returned to the old lady's home. Upon opening the door, Rei held her breathe as a terrible animal smell escaped the open door and the old lady peered out- her eyes sparkled as she recognized her cat and took it from Rei's hands. She thanked her and shut the door abruptly. Rei let go of her breathe and shook her head as she started breathing again. Cat people.... she stated quietly as she walked off in slight disgust.

Mission:
Mission Name: Growing Lessons
Rank: D
Type: NPC
Client: People of the land
Exp/Ryo Reward: 300ryo
Mission Description: The village teachers have requested that a ninja come as a guest speaker. Go to the children and give a speech on what it means to be a shinobi. Keep in mind, these are children though.
Location: Heaven's Blossom
Additional Information: 300WC
Eligible Members: Any

Rei rather enjoyed the mission papers she held in her hands: although it was a really weak mission, it was important to the youth of the village and she relished the opportunity to instill the proper mentality and fear in the youth. Her job was going to be a guest speaker to the newest Shinobi children, she would have to choose her words carefully to help them understand and accept the importance of her speech. Truth be told, a speaker had come and spoken to Rei and her age group when she was in the young and yet Rei had overlooked the man's speech until now. At that age, the kids were all about competition and impressing those they liked, that of course or goofing off and skipping chores at home. Lucky for them, they had those kinds of simple homely tasks to dread. Rei had worked at a young age to provide food for herself and her big sister who looked after her.

She arrived at the meeting spot and looked on it with nostalgia as she imagined her first day at the children's classes and the imposing feeling it had given her. She had been a prodigy in her class and her teachers obviously remembered her, that was one of the reasons they had asked her for this mission and to speak to their younger generation. Why exactly, Rei wasn't too sure. she herself had been a very antisocial child and still was in many regards. I'm here to make a speech for the children today. she explained to someone at the door, they nodded their head in understanding and allowed her entrance and even pointed her to the room where the students were waiting. She paused at the door and waited, she had the general idea of what she wanted to say. She slid the door open and instinctively reached up to grab a large cup of water as it fell. She caught the glass with the water still in the cup, she walked forwards and set it on the desk and looked at the surprised children, some wearing a sour face because their prank hadn't worked. 0]]Same old tricks when I was a student here huh... you guys should try to be more original or else your tricks become predictable.[/b] It was a good opening to the idea she had in mind. The life of a shinobi is the same way. If you stay in one place and don't learn anything, people will take advantage of you and those around you. You should think about being more original and passionate in your studies and pranks. she said in a somewhat friendly manner while offering them advice. Some chuckled as she indirectly was telling them to try harder with their pranks. She was more so challenging their desire to become something more, but hey, she was curious to see what kinds of pranks these students could pull if they put their minds to it. She grinned and studied the group of kids, a few Uchiha were present.

Mission:
Mission Name: Herb gathering
Rank: D
Type: NPC
Client: People of the land
Exp/Ryo Reward: 300ryo
Mission Description: The medicine team has requested for the shinobi to gather some local herbs in the area. Gather three different types of herbs that are local to the environment and drop them off at the hospital.
Location: Heaven's Blossom
Additional Information: 300WC
Eligible Members: Any

Rei held the paperwork in her hands as she peered down at it, there was a short description along with some in depth pictures of the kinds of herbs that were acceptable by the medical ninjas. Her job today was to gather herbs for the medical ninjas: these herbs could be found around the village, an easy enough mission. Having gotten up early that morning to exercise, Rei had gone around the park, she visited it often. She had knowledge of where to get such herbs, the park she ran at daily had a surplus of such herbs back farther away from the most traveled paths. It wouldn't hurt to go on another little job today. She traveled across the village to the park area and took up a slight jog as she inspected the sides of the path for the familiar signs of the right direction. She jogged for about five minutes until she recognized the path, she slowed down to a casual walk and exited the path to the side and went down a more narrow path that was hardly ever used.

She pulled out the job paperwork and began to compare some of the plants to the herb list's pictures shown in the paperwork. She looked around for a bit, intending to find the biggest and healthiest herb plants to take back while leaving the smaller ones to grow and spread their seed to turn into more herbs. A wise farmer knew what plants to pick and what plants to leave to make more for later harvest. Rei double checked with the pictures just to be sure she was not mistaken, one of the herbs had a very similar structure to an itchy plant and she didn't want to get them mixed up. After being convinced, she returned to the path with the herbs and finished her little job and then walked off the little work out as she walked across the village and found the medical center. She handed over the herbs and the paperwork to the medical shinobi at the desk. Here are the herbs requesting. I checked them with the diagrams, all good herbs. the shinobi took the herbs and thanked her.

Mission:
Mission Name: Specimen Collection
Rank: D
Type: NPC
Client: People of the land
Exp/Ryo Reward: 300ryo
Mission Description: The research team believes that a rare breed of white moth that are native to the valley have healing abilities. Capture three of these rare white moths in the wild, uninjured and drop them off at the research team.
Location: Heaven's Blossom
Additional Information: 300WC
Eligible Members: Any

Catching moths for the village's medical shinobi? That seemed a bit weird, it felt more like a childhood memory with Yin rather than an official mission of the village. Supposedly these moths had healing properties and the medical shinobi wanted these specimen alive and unharmed. Normally that would be impossible to do because by nature, moths were very delicate. She had been provided with a container to place these moths in however, all she had to do was lure them in and capture them within the container without injury. Ideally, she wanted to capture a single male and two females. The medical shinobi would like that very much, they could breed and study the moths in a natural habitat and learn much from them. Alright, this should be easy enough/ she told herself as she held the small container in her right hand headed towards the village gates at dusk. The report said that these moths only appeared in a specific location not too far away and only at night.

Sure enough, as she traveled towards the location, she could see little blinking and twitching that indicated that the moth were out and flying around. In total, Rei counted about thirty two moths, all dancing about the air in mating rituals for spring. She neared the location even closer and sat in the bushes silently and in a still manner while she controlled her breathing. Too much exhaling would release carbon dioxide from her lungs and would startle the moths who could see her breathe. With controlled breathing, she watched and waited. By studying the moths and how they reacted, she had deduced which were males and which were females. She waited as a single male danced around a couple of females and took turns mating them. After the second one was mated, Rei moved in with the container and swiftly captured all three of them. Mission successful, she had captured two females and a male who had already impregnated the two females. Soon enough, the medical shinobi would have plenty of moth to study and learn valuable information from. Now, all I need to do is turn you in to the medical shinobi and all finished. she said to the moths and began to walk back towards the village.

Mission:
Mission Name: Rebuilding the docks
Rank: D
Type: NPC
Client: People of the land
Exp/Ryo Reward: 300ryo
Mission Description: The docks of a small village were recently destroyed by a storm, help rebuild the wooden docks. Simple enough.
Location: Heaven's Blossom
Additional Information: 300WC
Eligible Members: Any

A storm had come through the coast recently, specifically in the direction of the small village nearby. It hadn't been an average storm either, this one had enough force behind it to tear up the docks at the bay of the village. The village got these kinds of storms from time to time, something was always destroyed and it was always up to the shinobi of the land to pitch in and help rebuild. It was just one of the hardships of where their village happened to be built at the time. A storm here and then wasn't enough to deter the villagers from living there, they were a stubborn and hearty people. Every time something was destroyed, the local civilians of the village would put in requests to the ninja to send their skilled and professional shinobi over to repair the damage caused.

Of the shinobi often taking these jobs, was of course the Uchiha clan. The clan was powerful and renowned for their cursed eyes, but they were also known for the pride in their clan and their village: few in the village helped out more than the Uchiha clan in building, rebuilding and protecting the village and smaller villages around them. Among these Uchiha was Rei, a young shinobi of the village who was given the task of helping some workers to rebuild the docks after the last hard storm. Rei could remember the last heavy storm, she had been inside her apartment and was watching out the window as the rains had come down and the strong winds picks up the rain and danced around the land. She knew then that something was likely to be broken and it would only take a day or so for word to come down to the shinobi to start rebuilding. Sure enough, two days later she was given a mission to help rebuild the docks.

She viewed the damage done by the storm, it was impressive but not devastating. The left side of the docks were destroyed up to the bank and a little bit of the end of the right side of the docks were completely missing. She turned around and looked at the many stacks of lumber and workers getting ready to start work. She walked up to them as they began to pick up the pre-measured planks: she grabbed a hammer and a pouch full of nails. She placed the pouch of nails in her ninja pouch and looped the hammer through her pants as she grabbed four planks and headed towards the right side of the docks first. They needed a functioning dock and it was the quickest to repair. A few others had this idea as well as followed Rei. They tore off the ruined boards and replaced them with the fresh planks and hammered them down until they were solidly in place. With that side completed, she and the other workers grabbed more planks and went to the left side of the dock and began to help the other workers finish the most damaged side. By the end of the day, the docks looked brand new and as if they had never been damaged or used at all. Rei wiped sweat from her face, turned in her hammer and nails and then reported to the foreman to ensure all was complete. It was.

Mission:
Mission Name: Wolf Pack
Rank: C
Type: NPC
Client: People of the land
Exp/Ryo Reward: 600ryo
Mission Description: A small pack of wolves located right outside the clan area have been making the people very uncomfortable. They have a record of attempting to attack humans. Either kill or scare the wolves away. It's up to you, so long as they're gone. These wolves are strategic though and work well in their pack, so be some what careful.
Location: Heaven's Blossom
Additional Information: 600WC
Eligible Members: Any

Rei picked up the paperwork and leafed through the pages of the little notebook that had been handed to her. This was a mission she had been assigned by the leaders of the village. Apparently there was a small pack of wolves in the area just outside of town which was bothering villagers and travelers, her task was to get rid of the wolves by any means necessary. Killing didn't really phase Rei except when it came to those she loved(which were few) and of course those of her village, but if her village demanded it- she would do what was demanded of her. She felt no pity for the wolves outside of the village, they were smart creatures and surely knew well enough not to attack areas heavily scented with the presence of humans. For some reason, these wolves had ventured into dangerous territory to seemingly attack humans for no reason: logically, the job assigned to Rei made sense even if it might have been in bad taste at the idea of killing animals. Well, I might as well get this over with. She said to herself quietly as she made her way towards the gates of the village and flashed her mission paperwork to be allowed exit.

She stopped outside the gate and took in the surroundings before doing her hunting: the first rule of the hunter was to know your terrain, the second was to know your enemy. In this case, she knew plenty about the wolves, all of the recent reports were logged in the paperwork, all she needed to do now was know the terrain. Fortunately, she was a member of this village since birth and had spent a lot of time playing in and around the walls, she was familiar enough with the terrain already. As she peered around the area, she decided to go off the road to the left and traveled a few minutes while studying the ground until she found the tracks of the wolf pack. She counted four separate tracks, four wolves. Four against one hardly seemed fair, but she was a beginner shinobi of the Uchiha and was skilled, there wasn't any way she was going to let a small group of wolves beat her and bring shame to the village, nor her clan. Or at least that was what rational told her to think emotionally.

From the looks of the tracks, the pack had just recently passed through here, less than a day old. She followed the tracks slowly while paying attention to her surroundings. She traveled like this, low to the ground and eyes forward until ten minutes had passed. The tracks began to double back on themselves and go in a couple different directions. Just up ahead was a little cave in the side of a hill, the ground here had been thoroughly trampled by travel. Rei had found their little den. She reached behind her back and pulled out a kunai from her ninja tool pouch and advanced slowly until she exited the brush and stood out in the opening of the little field surrounding the wolf din. The area around the field was thick with trees and brush, it gave her the perfect canopy and hunting environment- the tricky part was her scent. If the wind traveled upwards, her scent would be carried into the den and the wolves would be alerted of her presence. She would have to act quickly before a breeze came along, though planned right, she could use that to his advantage.

She performed a short series of handseals and jumped into the air. As she moved quickly into the air, a clone of his remained in place and a breeze picked up his scent and blew it towards the cave. About twenty seconds later, Rei listened as she crouched on a low hanging tree branch, kunai in hand. The four wolves emerged from the shadows of their den and saw the clone of Rei standing there in an aggressive manner. They growled as the fur on their bodies tensed, the lead wolf charged forward with the intend of taking down the human who dared fill their den grounds with her filthy scent. The wolf leaped into the air and lunged at the clones throat but passed through harmlessly as the clone disappeared. Rei dropped from the overhanging tree on top of the confused and surprised wolf, with one quick jab, she stabbed the kunai through the underside of the wolf's rib cage. A muffled struggle later and the wolf breathed its last as it bled out and its punctured heart stopped beating.

Meanwhile, two other wolves rushed Rei as she dropped atop the lead wolf. To their surprise, they were equally confused and overcome by Rei's speed. Quick work of the kunai stopped the wolves dead in their tracks. The last wolf, sensing its demise, backed up while growling fiercely at the human. With a snap of its jaws, the wolf turned tail and retreated into the thick brush with its tail tucked between its legs and yipping in fear. Rei doubted the wolf would be back for a long time if at all. She picked up the corpses of the other three wolves and dug small graves for them. She buried them and then returned to the village with a complete mission.

Mission:
Mission Name: Serpent of the mist
Rank: C
Type: NPC
Client: People of the land
Exp/Ryo Reward: 600ryo
Mission Description: A large blue serpent with green eyes that is about 10 feet long has been eating some of the villages live stock. Because of this, the serpent has to be eliminated. Slay the snake, but be careful. It's extremely strong and quick. It likes to hang out in a near by lake in the valley, so it'll have the advantage from being in water.
Location: Heaven's Blossom
Additional Information: 600WC
Eligible Members: Any

Live stock going missing? That didn't sound good, it was the first thing she noticed on the mission papers she held in her hands while she sat down on a rooftop. When live stock went missing, it usually meant there was either a wild beast hunting at their leisure or a group of bandits who were taking the animals for food or blackmail. Both were bad in Rei's opinion, if the target was taking live stock regularly, it either meant it was a large force of bandits or a larger than normal predator animal. In this case, it appeared to be a serpent. Listed on the mission were several incident reports of farmers and other travelers spotting the serpent in the area and even having large bulges in its stomach. It was confirmed by the last report that this blue serpent was eating the live stock of nearby farmers, one of the farm hands spotted the serpent eating a cow and then slithering away. By that sighting's report, the serpent had to be at least ten feet in length and at least four feet in width: a formidable opponent.

It was a duty given to Rei to slay this serpent and keep it from ruining the farmer's live stock business. Well, I might as well head to the last area it was reported to be. She thought about how the serpent must have looked, the large snake must have been a beauty, she hadn't seen a blue serpent before, especially one so large. Normally, serpents went into a short term of hibernation for proper digestion after eating such a large meal, yet this serpent seemed to be attacking regularly. At least once a week it attacks and ate a cow or something else. It must have had an amazing digestive system. The last report said that the serpent had eaten a large cow just the day before. By Rei's judgment, if the serpent ate once a week or so and it had just eaten yesterday, it must now be at its most docile and sluggish physical state. It was the opportune time to slay the beast before it could become lithe and agile again.

She left the village after showing the guards her proper paperwork for the mission, both guards seemed to know of the serpent problem: apparently the farmers who visited the village often complained a lot about the serpent, it was about time the village got someone to take care of it. While this was only a C Rank mission, Rei could feel the pressure and intensity of the mission: while it wasn't as difficult as to send a skilled Jounin, there was a lot of building stress between the farmers and the village. She simply couldn't fail this mission. But how was the best way to take out a ten foot serpent? They were pretty smart creatures, she could only guess how intelligent this serpent must have been to be the size it was. It would surely eat her if she got too close. The report said that the creature was known to hang out around a watery area, chances were that the serpent would be hiding in the water to avoid the majority of predators. A slow smile crept on Rei's face as she slowly formulated a plan on how to take down this large serpent.

She traveled the short distance in the direction the report indicated until she found the watery area the serpent was said to frequent. She skirted the bank of the water and noticed the slithering serpentine marks of the serpents going to and from the lake: she saw no sign of the serpent though, which meant that the likelihood of the serpent hiding in the water was pretty high. On the other hand, if the serpent was out and hunting again, which was unlikely considering the size of its last meal... the serpent could catch her off guard. Rei performed some quick handseals and made a clone of himself and swam out into the water. The  clone continued to stand there. The real Rei was in the water and began to kick up a comotion in the water to get any attention from below the surface. She noticed movement near the other end of the lake, a dark shadow darted to one side and then something came floating to the top. It was the corpse of the cow the serpent had previously eaten. Rei grinned, it had taken her bait.

While a serpent could eat a lot, they were most vulnerable after eating. With Rei's clone stood as a land decoy, Rei had invaded its watery territory. The serpent had regurgitated its beefy meal to regain its quick movements to take out the invader. While the read Rei could see the shadow of the serpent, countering it in a timely manner would be more difficult. She watched as the large serpent closed down upon her position beneath the water. Just before it reached ehr position, t lunged above the water's surface and opened its large mouth. In one quick swoop, the serpent had gobbled up Rei whole. Quick and misleadingly powerful strikes from within its mouth caused the serpent to flail back and forth as blood poured out from its insides and seeped into the water, dying it crimson. Rei's weapon, Erebus, the gloved weapons on her arms, ripped through the serpent's body, sending chunks of meat throughout the water as Rei climbed out of the corpse which was full of holes. Mission completed, Rei jumped out of the water and headed back to the village. The farmers would be quite happy to hear their menace had been slain.

Mission:
Mission Name: D Rank Missing-nin

Mission Description: A ninja got mad at the village because he kept getting denied for a rank up. So, he left the village and went rogue. He knows all the basic techniques and is armed with smoke bombs and explosive tags. Slay the traitor. He's been spotted a few miles outside the village.

Rei was handed a thick stack of papers, she raised an eyebrow in a questioning manner. This was a bit unusual. Usually her missions consisted of paperwork that was light, maybe one or two pages of information. This mission had a stack at least an inch thick of paperwork. On the front cover was a shinobi that Rei recognized, it was a young shinobi that she had grown up with: apparently he had gotten himself into some trouble. Rei began to leaf through the pile of paperwork and read from some of the reports, she became troubled as she continued to read. This shinobi had been denied several times when applying for a rank up: Rei could understand how he felt, it wasn't easy to rank up in the shinobi world. The troublesome part was that while the shnobi had been denied multiple times, the requests became less frequent until they stopped altogether. Originally those who kept denying him had thought he had just given up. That wasn't the case however, instead this shinobi had left the village while bearing some valuable documentation to the village. Word had traveled from sources that this shinobi had supplied one of the enemy villages with those important documents. What is he thinking? Surely he knows what this means? she thought out loud talking to herself, then she realized what this mission meant.

She leafed through a few more pages of the mission report until she found the instructions, her task was to "silence" this traitorous shinobi by killing him. Rei sighed, she knew the shinobi deserved it for betraying the village and everyone he knew- but Rei had  killed several of her own villagers before, adding another to that list was sure to give her trouble later. She wouldn't hesitate, this shinobi had gone out of his way to exploit the village for his own gains, he deserved an untimely demise. Rei read through the rest of the paperwork to be sure: apparently the report stated that the shinobi had been spotted recently just a few miles outside of the village. Possibly the shinobi figured he could swipe information from the village a couple more times before anyone learned anything. If that was the case, this shinobi had thought wrong and miscalculated the intelligence network of the village. A young shinobi such as this with very little real combative skill or techniques was quite foolish to betray his own village for a little bit of fame and satisfaction.

With everything read and understood, Rei gathered her ninja tools and set out of the gate after showing the guards that she was on an official mission. The guards nodded their heads and allowed her to leave the village. Rei followed the instructions on the paperwork and headed in the general direction that the report said the traitorous shinobi had been spotted. Rei knew this guy, though somewhat vague and despondent, Rei had paid attention in classes and knew a lot about those her age even if she didn't like them or want to be friends. While this guy was a shinobi, he lacked any real battle skills or experience, it was no surprise really that he had been denied a shinobi promotion on several occasions: though it was still hard to believe that the shinobi had turned rogue out of anger. Some people just didn't realize how foolish their actions were, that was all Rei could guess. Now that shinobi had to die for poor decisions. Decisions were important and this shiobi had made one poor decision after the next: his poor decisions would end here with Rei's "intervention"

She traveled along the road until she found the spot she had been looking for. Many foot prints were scattered all over the main road, but there was a small side path with bushes covering its entrance. Rei and the rest of her class knew about the location because they had frequented the spot during school hours with their teacher. If the shinobi had been spotted in this area, then he was using a familiar place and terrain to hide: a large mistake on his part. The village knew no one better than his own classmates who grew up with him to track him down and kill him. While they could send tracker-nin to hunt him down, it might take a little longer and that potential firepower would be out of the village for a period of time just to hunt down an unruly young shinobi who possessed no real thread aside from what information he could get his hands on. Someone familiar could do the job, that job had been passed on to Rei for some reason over the fifty something other students. It was likely because she was an Uchiha with a dark history and reputation. The Uchiha took their missions seriously and had such strong will and pride that if someone were to betray their village, they would have the least difficulty with going through a killing blow on someone they knew. The village was right though: while Rei didn't enjoy killing, she was quite willing and eager to kill this despicable traitor.

Fresh footprints lead her right to the location her former classmate was hiding. Instead of using the trees and other methods to erase his traces, this shinobi was reckless and seemingly uncaring about his predicament. Maybe he was just too sloppy and careless. Rei found the camp that the traitor had set up but the time it was near dark. Under the thick trees and brush, the only light in the are came through the trees and a small campfire in a dip in the ground. A single small tent had been set up and a line for clothing to be hung on to dry after being washed by a nearby river. Rei's eye adjusted to the dark surroundings, the traitor was asleep in the tent. Rei carefully moved forward, she didn't want to break any dry twigs or step too heavily and alert the traitor of her presence. She successfully crossed the short distance and bent low as she stepped within the tent and drew out a kunai from her ninja tool pouch. She placed the blade against the shinobi's neck and suddenly pushed down and slid the sharp blade sideways while she slit the traitor's throat. The searing pain caused the traitor to wake up abruptly, his eyes going wide as he realized there was a shadow leaning above him and staring at him with carless black eyes. He tried to scream out but found he had no voice: a look of confusion covered his face as he touched his neck and drew warm blood. This is your reward for betraying your village. Rei stated in a cold inhumane tone as she wiped the fresh blood on the dying shinobi's clothing. Rei took all of the materials the traitor had gathered and read through them before burning them at the small campfire. She checked to ensure the traitor had died and then took his body and returned with it to village as proof of the done deed.

Rei held up the small parchment of paper in her hand and scanned the contents written on it once again: it was written in a sloppy manner and obviously in much hurry. So I have to find this guy's favorite fishing pole and bring it to him at the docks by the end of the evening? Rei asked herself out loud as she thought about the mission. Yes it was from a great fisherman, known for his fine fish catches and stocking the markets with fresh fish every morning: it was an important role even if it was a small detail and rather meticulous. Rei sighed to herself as she crumpled up the mission paper and threw it away, she was a skilled shinobi, albeit still low in rank. This kind of a job should belong to someone else.

Even still, Rei had taken the mission because it was shoved onto her, apparently this mission was important enough to many people of the vllage that they needed someone reliable enough to find the great fisherman's favorite fishing pole. Naturally, Rei's mind thought about all of the places such a fisherman would visit and carry his favorite fishing pole: if Rei could trace his steps, she would likely find the fishing pole. The paper had an address for the home of the great fisherman, Rei would start there. She set off to the other side of the village and found the little home. Just by looking at it, Rei could tell it was cozy, though the old man seemed to not be home. Thinking back on the details of the mission report- the great fisherman would be at the docks for the whole day preparing for a small fishing trip. He would be too busy securing supplies and checking to ensure his little boat was safe and sail-worthy, he had no extra time to go looking for his favorite fishing pole. If it came down to it, he would use the spare he had brought along.

Rei felt a bit odd walking around the old man's house, she had direct permission to enter the man's house and search the surrounding area: but as a stranger in another's personal space, it just felt wrong. There was an area behind the house that looked to be a holding area for fish and a station for cleaning and gutting fish: a large tank of water was in this area with fish swimming about inside, apparently trophy fish. Sitting against the fish tank was an unusually large and hard wood fishing rod, it matched the description of the favorite pole, so Rei took it and walked for about ten minutes towards the docks. She carried the fishing pole over her shoulder and ignored the passer-byes. They looked at her as if they were surprised to see a shinobi taking a day off to go fishing, Rei didn't care what they thought. Arriving at the docks, Rei found the old man tending to the sail on his little boat. I found your pole old man. Rei walked up and said in a even tone.

The old man turned suddenly and smiled with delight as he jumped down onto the docks and quickly snatched up the fishing pole and began to hug it tightly as he rubbed his face against its body. Oh my dear sweet Momo... Ill never lose you again. Thank you young shinobi, without your help, my next fishing trip would have been a lot harder. What is your name? Rei told the man her name and nodded as she was thanked once more, with the mission complete, she quickly left the old man and his fishing pole.

Rei chuckled out loud as she was handed a mission scroll, the young Uchiha prodigy had taken up her regular missions once again and things seemed to be going back to normal: or at least as normal got for the dark and lonesome Uchiha shinobi. Even then, she immediately knew when it was time for helping the great fisherman again though. A messenger had come to Rei's house and delivered a personal mission to hrt from the village, yet again the old man had requested Rei's assistance. Old man, what kind of trouble have you gotten yourself into this time? Rei asked out loud even though the great fisherman was nowhere around to hear the questions.

Going by their recent line of missions, Rei was expecting something difficult. Rei expecting something even more difficult than the last missions! She peeled the seal off of the scroll and opened it up, she expected the details of the mission to cover the length of the scroll but instead Rei was surprised at how short and simple the mission was. Even still a beginner shinobi, she was still doing the low rank missions, especially when it came in regards to the old man and his fishing adventures. Well I guess I better get over there and find the old man's fishing pole again. You'd think since it meant so much to him that he would't lose it so often... Rei's line of reasoning went onward inside her head as she got dressed for the mission and attached her ninja kit to her middle lower back.

Recently Rei had taken different routes to the docks to prevent being too predictable, this time she traveled by rooftops just because it was quick and not many could even see her from that angle. In a matter of a couple of minutes, she reached the old man's house and didn't bother going inside: she had never actually been inside the house even though he had been granted permission a couple of times. It was never necessary, for she had found the fishing pole around the backyard against a large fishing tank full of the great fisherman's trophy fish. Sure enough, this time too as Rei walked around back, she recognized "Momo" the old mans favorite fishing rod, leaning in the exact same place it was last time.

She took the rod and met the old man at the docks and handed it to him. I swear old man, sometimes I think you forget this fishing pole on purpose just so you can see and talk to me. Rei teased the great fisherman, which elicited a hearty chuckle from the old gnarled fisherman. He thanked Rei and made some small talk and then Rei was done with her mission.

This hardly seems like a reward... Rei thought to herself as she sat back in the small boat and relaxed as much as possible. The hard wood and no soft support in the rigid boat made it impossible to truly relax. While Rei half-sat and half-lied down in the boat and fidgeted to get comfortable, the old man seemed at peace in his seated position and staring out into the vast blue ocean before them. After having found the great fisherman's pole(twice!), the next mission she had received was from the village. The old man had requested her help on this fishing trip by name: it was a start for the young shinobi. A much valued fisherman in the village knew her name and specifically requested the village to send her for assistance. One of the mission delivery shinobi that had handed her the mission told her to "think of it as a small reward" for completing her last one so easily. Rei was uncertain if it was sarcasm or a genuine response.

No matter how Rei looked at it, this mission served no purpose in assisting her in becoming stronger. Helping this old man catch fish only helped to serve the market's ryo pouches. Do you dislike the water, young woman? the great fisherman asked over his shoulder without looking at Rei, the old man could tell that Rei was not at ease, nor did she seem to be enjoying herself. Forgive this old man for requesting your help on such a simple task. Im sure a shinobi such as you had bigger aspirations in life. I just wanted you to come along and experience the simple joy the ocean and its inhabitants offered: sometimes its just nice to get away from everything that has you tied down. the old man explained, seemingly having insight into the inner darkness within Rei's heart.

Rei sat up in the boat and listened to the old man, she didn't want to offend the great fisherman. The more she listened to the old man, the more she found herself at ease: the great fisherman was more intelligent and peaceful than Rei could have imagined. Rei shifted in her seat and looked out over the endless water. It isn't the water that bothers me... it if the things that is within the water, the unknown and the darkness. If the great fisherman understood or not that Rei was using a metaphor, he didn't show, he merely nodded his head and stood up as he recognized the spot they were in.

Sometimes the best way to overcome those dark depths in the water is to cast out your line and draw up whatever is beneath the surface. Now, help me catch some fish, we are here at the fishing hole. said the old man as he picked up his favorite fishing pole Momo. He handed Rei the spare fishing pole and the two of them sat in silence over the side of the boat and focused on catching fish and enjoying the simple serenity the ocean's quiet calmness gave.

Rei sighed in a bit if exasperation as she was handed another mission, this one so soon after her last one with the great fisherman. Between the two of them, they had caught plenty of fish and stocked the market with fresh fish for a couple of days. Soon they would need more fish and as if on que of Rei's realization, a messenger had dropped by her house and handed her another mission. She had opened the mission and immediately recognized the handwriting of the great fisherman. The great fisherman was going back to the same fishing hole and requested Rei help him again. Despite the small sigh of exasperation, a little smile crept over Rei's face. Even though these kinds of missions were small and tedious, they served an honest and helpful purpose in the village: countless people relied on the old fisherman to supply the village with fresh fish.

Rei would have thought the old man would be rich with the amount of fish he got for the village: why then did he live in such a small place all alone? Rei didn't know, but it bothered her. She got ready for the mission and then headed to the docks where she saw the old man sitting by his boat, waiting for Rei. Upon sighting the Uchiha, the old man stood up smiling and waving in a friendly manner. Rei couldn't help but feel a small smile on her face as she waved back gently to the old man, not wanting to appear too happy or excited to see the great fisherman so soon.

The two of them set out soon after on the little boat in the direction of the fishing hole, Rei held the spare fishing pole close to her, knowing that as long as she was in the boat, this fishing pole was her method of completing the mission. No longer did Rei simply look and see the ocean's surface as vast water: from their last discussion, Rei had taken the insight and now saw the ocean's surface as the surface of her own soul- calm and quiet on the surface but full of terrible and unknown things in the darkness below. This fishing pole was her ability to draw out that darkness and know it. Hey old man, why is it that you live poorly even though you provide the mrket with plenty of fresh fish every day?

Rei had asked the question after several minutes of fishing, the old man had burst into laughter and slapped his knee in sheer delight. Do you really think I am so poor? I am an old lonesome man with only one granddaughter that visits me from time to time, much like you. I have no needs aside from a few simple ones to keep on living. I make a small profit but give most of the fish away for free, yet I am happily content with my simple but fulfilling life. I am not poor, dear Rei. One can have many riches and fame and yet still feel empty and unhappy inside because they are dissatisfied and don't know what they truly want. By my reckoning, I am richer than most, richer then even you. His words struck true to Rei and Rei had no words to reply with, instead she focused on catching the fish and thinking quietly. This old man was satisfied and happy with the small accomplishment he performed daily for the village who appreciated him. Rei was a shinobi and yet felt nothing but emptiness and dissatisfaction: she was indeed quite poor compared to the great fisherman.

Rei blinked at the mission scroll before her eyes, she held it casually in her hands as she sat at the table for breakfast: just the day before she had helped the old fisherman complete a mission. Yet here she was again, so early the very next morning and being requested for her assistance again. Rei liked the old man, but sometimes Rei felt as though the old fisherman was asking her for missions because he was simply lonely. Whatever the case may be, this was an official mission, so Rei couldn't rightly refuse it. She rolled up the scroll and placed it to the side as she began to eat her breakfast, she didn't have to meet the old man at the docks for a couple of hours still, so she had plenty of time to eat her food and prepare for the mission. She ate slowly and tried to enjoy the food while not thinking about what might be in store for her today.

After eating breakfast, Rei washed her dishes and went to her bedroom to get dressed. She attached her ninja pouch to her lower middle waist and set off towards the docks by her usual route. People noticed her but didn't really recognize her. They had seen her pass through here several times now and go to the docks. She ignored them, it wasn't any of their business anyways. Rei skirted the side of the docks and found the old fisherman at his boat and messing with something metal. He turned around suddenly and saw Rei, a wide smile crossed his face. Ah, Rei my girl! Today you're in for a treat! he said as he shoved a light weight metal cage into Rei's hands. Rei took the cage and looked at the man a bit confused: she doubted fish would be easy to catch with such a cage. The old man chuckled at her confused expression. Today we'll be catching lobster from the floor of the ocean! We put a little bit of bait into these cages here and the lobsters get trapped when they enter. All we have to do is wait and then pull them up! It was ingenious.

Sounded easy enough. Rei loaded several of these cages onto the small boat, there was barely any room for her afterwards but both seemed to find a way to fit inside the boat. Off they sailed until they were far out from the shore: Rei could barely see the docks anymore. The old man pulled out some fresh fish meat and slathered each cage with a bit of it. He and Rei dropped the cages attached to some roped down into the water. With the boat free of cages, they both stretched out and relaxed a bit. Rei didn't feel like talking today and it was still far too early for her: the great fisherman seemed to understand the mood and kept his discussions to simple commands when the cages were ready to be lifted. They waited a couple of hours and then began to pull the cages up. Rei noticed the cages were heavier than she remembered: upon pulling them out of the water, they were filled completely with large red lobsters. Rei and the old man carefully picked up the cages full of lobsters with large pinchers ready to pinch them. They loaded the cages back up carefully and tried their best not to get too close to the cages on their trip back to the village. Try as she might, Rei still managed to get pinched a few times, the lobsters leaving red bruises on her skin.

Are you ready old man? Rei asked in her usual tone, friendly but neglecting of emotion or honorifics. Instantly the great fisherman knew who was standing behind him, he was honored and revered by those around him... and only one girl he knew had the balls so to speak, to call him an old man. He reached into his boat and quickly pulled out a pair of thick leather gloves, he spun around suddenly in an attempt to playfully smack Rei with the gloves.

The shinobi, being much more quick than the old man, decided to take the hit playfully rather than dodge it with her skills and speed. Across her face the gloves slapped abruptly and they both burst into laughter before leaning against the boat. You are a good kid Rei Uchiha. You have much power but you don't use it to your advantage over others in ordinary things. You were broken when you first started helping me, but you have slowly changed and become much stronger. Im glad to call you a friend and fellow fisherman. Rei smirked at the last comment, a fisherman huh? Rei couldn't imagine herself being a true fisherman, especially considering she was a woman: a bit the old man forget to remember from time to time.

The two of them climbed into the boat and set sail with the new and used sail they had both previously tied to the boat's mast. I have a small order of lobster from a merchant today, he is doing a special event and wants some of the freshest lobster we can get! Rei nodded her head in understanding, the great fisherman sometimes did special requests. Together, the two of them threw several metal crates into the water and then talked and laid around lazily for an hour or two before pulling the crates up. Three crates were full of bright red and large lobster that snapped at the two fishermen in self defense. That will do my girl! Let's sail in and get these lobster to that merchant!

They turned the boat inward and sailed back to the docks, the great fisherman rushed off with the cages while leaving Rei with the responsibility of tying the ship down to ensure it didnt drift away. Rei secured it and put away the great fisherman's tools and then went her own way, the little job was complete and the merchant had gotten the lobster on time even if barely.

A secret fishing spot? Rei asked herself out loud as she lay upside down on her bed and read the message upside down. This was another mission and it was from the great fisherman, his handwriting was sloppy as usual, but Rei could tell that this letter had been written with more care and affection. The old man saw Rei as a companion and a friend in fishing, he was willing to share with Rei the secret fishing spot that he cherished. Rei frowned slightly, she liked being kind to the old man, she respected the great fisherman. The problem was that Rei wished to not be close to anyone in the village and here the great fisherman was trying to share his prized fishing spot with Rei. Didn't the old man know the rumor that floated around the village? Wasn't he afraid of dying if he stayed around Rei too much? The Uchiha sighed and rolled up the mission details and stuck it in her ninja pouch, no longer did she crumple up and throw away the mission reports from the old man, a small sign that she appreciated the man's requests for her personally.

I'm here old man, what's this abut a secret fishing spot? Rei said somewhat too loud when she approached the old man's boat. Upon hearing Rei's voice, the great fisherman stood up and waved: Rei's mention of the secret fishing spot sent a bit of alarm in to the old man. He jumped down from the boat and gently placed an old gnarled hand on Rei's mouth to prevent her from saying more. The great fisherman looked around a bit paranoid as he watched the closest fisherman in the area: none seemed to have paid any attention to Rei's comment.

The old man breathed a sigh of relief, removing his hand from Rei's face. Sorry about that Rei. be careful though, saying things like that could get other fisherman interested and follow us. This fishing spot I told you about is my favorite spot, I don't want anyone else going there and ruining the joy of it. Rei nodded her head in silent understanding. The great fisherman was named great for a reason, he knew the best fishing spots. If someone else learned them and abused them, they could put a stop to the great fisherman's little happiness while also charging the merchants of the market ridiculous prices for the much needed fish. It had been foolish for Rei to speak so carefree about the details the old man had entrusted to her in the written mission, that was foolish indeed.

The great fisherman could see the regret on Rei's face at the realization and there was no need for further words on the matter. Instead, the old man jumped into the boat and tossed Rei a large and thick pair of rough leather gloves. Rei stood on the dock for a moment with a confused expression as she held the gloves up in a questioning manner. You will see soon enough, my girl. Now hop in and let's be off before someone decides to follow us. A large grin was on the old man's face, he sure did enjoy entertaining the idea of suspense and action on his little fishing trips. Rei chuckled and hopped into the boat, careful not to drop the gloves.

The two of them traveled comfortably while Rei listened to the old man tell tales about his fishing trips when he was young: some made Rei laugh and some amazed the young Uchiha. Some stories seemed true and some seemed like a fisherman's tale. She didn't know the great fisherman to be a liar however, so she took the old man's word for them. They traveled for roughly an hour along the coast of the land of water until the great fisherman seemed to recognize their spot: he turned the rotor inward towards land and steered the boat into a cove. The water was very deep right here, Rei peered over the side expecting to see the bottom. Instead of seeing her reflection, a large fish-sized fish jumped out of the water: instincts caused Rei to bring her arm up in a defensive manner. The fish had leaped out of the water and latched onto Rei's arm with a strong and painful bite. Rei gasped in surprised pain and stumbled backwards into the boat. The old man laughed and pried the fish off of Rei's arm and handed her the gloves. Now Rei understood what the gloves were for. For the next couple of hours, Rei wore the sweaty heavy gloves as she stood in the boat and caught the fish that jumped out of the water in an attempt to bite her. Soon they had a full catch.

A couple of days had passed and it was about time again for a fishing trip. Rei fully expected another mission invitation and stood at the front door of her house expectantly. Sure enough, a delivery shinobi appeared some distance out and turned in her direction: Rei knew what it was. She received the mission from the shinobi and thanked him in a mild quit manner as she opened the scroll and read the details. Like last time and the time before, the handwriting was sloppy, but the carefulness had been ever increasing. So we're to go to your favorite spot again huh... Rei said to herself out loud. She twisted at the waist and stretched her arms: catching those fish had truly been a task. She had to anticipate their movements and react swiftly when the fish jumped from the water, more than once she had been too slow and gotten bitten good by those damn fish.

Rei returned to her house and prepared, she would wear an extra layer of shirts just to be certain, the biting would be less painful that way. After fully preparing, she set out for the docks and soon found the great fisherman and his boat in the usual spot: this time she saw the old man first and waved to him in a friendly manner. The old man spotted her, he smiled and waved back as he puffed on a smoke pipe and stood up. Rei walked around the length of the docks and greeted the old man. The great fisherman noticed her extra layer of shirts and busted out laughing. Now you're starting to look like a real fisherman, my girl! he said, complimenting Rei. Rei chuckled and grabbed the pair of thick rough leather gloves. A silent understanding passed between them, both of them were eager to be out on the water's surface and fishing. They hopped into the boat and the old man set sail towards the general direction of his favorite spot.

Rei took a small pleasurable nap while they sailed, the breeze felt nice and she managed to catch at least a half hour's sleep. She could have sworn the trip took a little longer, possibly the old man had taken the long route to allow Rei to relax a bit more. What the- What's going on here! Yelled the fisherman in an agitated voice, his sudden movements causing the boat to rock a bit. Alarmed, Rei sat up and looked around- they were at the cove but Rei saw no one or anything to be alarmed over. Then her eyes looked down at the water and her face became just as confused as the great fisherman's. There are some strange fish eating all my fine catches! exclaimed the great fisherman as they spotted schools of weird fish circling and attacking random jumping fish. They would eat the fish quickly and then leave a bloody spot in the water. These bloody spots dotted all along the cove's surface.

Working quickly, the old fisherman took the pair of gloves from Rei and stood at the from of his little ship as bait. A jumping fish jumped up and latched onto the glove as the old man moved his arm into the way: feeling a bit of satisfaction, the old man began to pull the fish towards a bucket for the fish. A second fish jumped out of the water, this one a weird and aggressive fish who aimed and bit down on the glove- its gaping mouth swallowed the hanging jumping fish whole and still bit deep into the old man's arm through the thick leather glove. The great fisherman yelled in surprised pain like a beginner fisherman. Rei moved forward quickly and used a kunai to pry the fish off of the old man's arm. We should go old man, this spot is done for. the great fisherman shook his head though, he wouldn't leave until he had least had a worthy catch for the day. He retook his position as bait at the front: Rei sighed, this old man was stubborn. Rei stood close with her kunai and watched the water's surface.

This was a lot harder, instead of just catching the jumping fish, Rei had to wait and watch what kind of fish jumped out. Sometimes it was a jumping fish and other times it was the weird aggressive fish. Rei would use her kunai to slice the aggressive fish in half before it could bite the old man. By the day's end, they had caught all the jumping fish that seemed to remain. Both sustained several bite injuries and were breathing heavy from exhaustion. The great fisherman cursed beneath his breathe as they sailed away from the cove. Damned fish if I ever saw one... Rei understood his frustration... somehow a new breed of fish had invaded the cove and were slowly eating away all of the normal fish.

Mission Name: Janitorial Duties
Rank: D
Type: NPC
Client: Uchiha Compound
Exp/Ryo Reward: 300
Mission Description: People are filthy and drop all kinds of trash everywhere. The Clan Compound cannot be precieved as filthy for any reason and it thus falls to you, young ninja, to clean up this mess.
Location: Land of Heaven's Blossom
Additional Information: N/A
Eligible Members: Any

Humans, filthy mindlessly breeding and gratifying creatures. While some of them proved the better, the majority of them were selfish and uncaring being if the care happened to be outside the scope of their personal interests. Altruism, was the word that one might look for if they expected anyone to go out of their way to help or look out for someone whom gave them no advantage, nor reward. Extremely few and far between were such individuals and Rei was no exception. By nature, Rei was an uncaring girl who connected with very few people. save her sister and the great fisherman. Even to such extents, she only helped them because one was her sister and the other relied on her heavily to complete his duties. It wasn't a bad deal however: Rei and her sister Yin looked after one another. The old fisherman provided Rei with many missions she earned an income from. And by income, Rei meant ryo of course. Not only that, but it provided her with reputation within the land of Heaven's Blossoms, surely soon the emperor would see fit to raise her status and grant her more responsibilities.

The task at hand however, was one of the lowest of lowly missions: cleaning up after other people's messes. It was a tedious and annoying task, but even so, Rei did it without complaint. One day, she would be the one higher up and others would be cleaning up after the overgrown children. More or less, Rei was uncaring even for this task, though she had to inwardly admit that doing this mission was only feeding people's tendencies to be lazy and unclean. It was troublesome to say the least by her logic. Still, she completed the task without a sound, there were others there as well- mostly younger than her and they all complained about the work... but more so about the smell of some of the trash. Rei had to admit to herself, some of the trash bags the others toted about, surely did smell fearsome. With her sector of work completed, she turned him her trash bag to the dump and went about her way, not helping the others in an altruistic manner of course.

Mission Name: Practice

Training? Me? By the elders? Rei questioned inwardly with both doubt and anticipation: or at least that was what her logic told her that she should feel. Elation, happiness, exciting and some dread mixed in. The clan elders saw fit to oversee Rei's physical training. Of course, to be an expert shinobi, one required an excellent, fit, agile, flexible and coordinated body. Of these innately talents, Rei possessed them in spades. Typically, Rei preferred weapons. Ever since she had been a babe, her parents had taught her to control and respect the weapons. Even after their execution, Rei still held true to those precepts taught to her. To wield a weapon effectively, one had to make it an extension of one's own body. Otherwise you would be full of openings.

Today, we will practice your skill with a sword. said an elder: a weak looking older man with balding white hair, whom held out a wooden sword to Rei as he spoke in a sagely manner. Whether he was truly wise or not, he looked as though the wind could break his back. He was bent over slightly and wore very loose fitting clothes. Whether she was supposed to care, underestimate him or pretend she couldn't possibly hit an elderly cripple man, she showed no emotion as she took the upheld wooden blade as it was offered to her. Come at me as though you intent to cleave me in half. said the old man as he straightened his back and took a deep breathe.

Without batting an eye, Rei widened her feet into a proper stance and pulled back the wooden sword into a hip placement. The weight of the "sword" was wrong- being a weapons master, she knew of these things from skill, all the same, she was expected to attempt to win against the old man. Logic told her that will youth alone, she could beat him. A voice of concern in her mind told her that his age and wisdom could prove her downfall if she underestimated him.

While skilled with weapons, Rei knew no real techniques with the sword, rather she knew how to handle it and effectively, but hadn't adopted any swordsman style arts. In one quick step, she shifted her leading right foot forward and left left foot to the side as she brought her "sword" into a left cleave at the old man's waist: it was a feign obviously, Rei was trying to gauge the man's speed and perception. The old man blocked it with mild effort and twirled her sword to the side, attempting to knock her off of her balance. her wide stance prevented this however and only opened the man up to a counter attack.

As he twirled his wooden sword, Rei lunged forward. She shoulder bashed the old man and knocked him off his guard as she twisted her grip on the sword and brought the wooden blade up to his neck, stopping just before she would have hit his throat in a solid strike. During the whole event, the old man had barely kept his eyes open as if he were sleepy, but Rei's counter attack had caught him in full surprise and his eyes were fully open as he looked down the wooden shaft of the sword and into the dull black eyes of the "broken" Uchiha girl. He cleared his throat and retreated a few steps. Splendid. You are indeed a gifted child, worthy of the legacy your parents left you as a weapons master. A bit too callous I would say and your movements were somewhat stiff. You should practice with the sword some more and adopt your own sword arts. Rei couldn't agree more, she nodded her head and returned the sword.

Your job is to be a diplomat for your emperor and successfully get the group to agree on the Emperor's terms terms. This group is an oddity, a circus of wild and exotic animals and their handlers. Rei held the paperwork in her hands along with a dry brown parchment with exotic writing and pictures on it. So this is supposed to be the mission huh.... Weird. was all Rei could manage to say as she read the mission details and then cast her dull gaze over the parchment. It was an advertisement flyer for a group of unidentified individuals located not too far away from Heaven’s Blossom. Word had it that this group had moved into Heaven’s Blossom's borderline of the forest and were setting up unusual things: word got around from others like villagers and a few shinobi so the village had decided to do something about it. Hence why Rei now held a mission in her hands. This is my first time being a diplomat for the village. i hope everything goes well. Rei confided in herself secretly.

Diplomats weren't normally combat oriented, but equally stressful and dangerous. As a speaker for her village, it was important to show confidence, power, intellect, passion and also understanding. Just being a strong military might was no good if the village couldn't show it was also sensible and willing to work with others. That aside, there was plenty of tension with the other major villages, paranoia wasn't out of the question either and the village was sending Rei to scout out the place and broker an agreement with them. The diplomacy was a two-fold agreement, first that it would ensure that the village could keep the large group in check to ensure nothing bad happened. Second that if this group that moved in to the forest recently, did anything to break the agreement, the village of Heaven’s Blossom could attack them or force them to leave without any further diplomacy and hopefully without any force of violence. Heaven’s Blossom was a large and powerful village, simply being a shinobi of the village and representing the name of Heaven’s Blossom was an honor. I guess I better get headed that way... I think the missiion details said the group was a circus? Rei frowned in distaste. She disliked circuses. They were too cheerful and weird, full of blissful people with the false idea that they were safe from harm.

With the details of the mission known, Rei folded up the scroll and took it inside her house. She prepared herself like she would normally for any mission. She started with wrapping her arms and legs tightly in white bandages and then slipped on her 3/4 length black pants accompanied by a long sleeve shirt and a dark grey Heaven’s Blossom flak jacket with the village's emblem embedded in large metal plates on the shoulders. She slipped on her black shinobi sandals and then tied her ninja pouch to her lower middle back, she was now all ready. Being as this was a diplomatic mission between her village and the closely occupying circus, Rei doubted there would be little if any difficulty at all with the mission. As the invading force, even if peaceful, the circus was obligated to agree to the village's terms or face serious consequences. Essentially Rei was going as a figurehead for her village's power and authority. If there was any opposition about the agreement in diplomacy, Rei would seriously doubt it. It wasn't an impossible idea however and if the owner of the circus didn't agree, this could turn into a long mission.

Now being all ready, Rei left her house and locked the door behind her. She traveled quickly but in a non-rushed manner towards the village gates. She passed through the gates and the guards gave her a respectful nod. She nodded back and continued on her way down into the forest. Why anyone would choose to set up a circus in the misty forest, Rei couldn't understand. Heaven’s Blossom was located on a mountain but held a valley full of mist. Simply traveling to and around the outside of the village was sometimes difficult for heavy onsets of fog, sometimes even within the village. She walked for several minutes and then took to the trees suddenly for a quicker and less obvious route to the destination of the circus. The location had been marked on a small map of the forest around one side of Heaven’s Blossom, attached with the map was a list of conditions and the overall goal of the village in this mission of Diplomacy. Rei had ensured to memorize them word for word, she wanted to portray a season and confident shinobi: someone constantly looking at notes to speak was neither confident, nor persuasive. Looks like I'm almost there...

Rei could hear faint sounds of music in the direction ahead of her, strange colored lights and vague movements in the mist up ahead. With one final leap across a low hanging tree branch, Rei burst out into a large open field. There was no mist in this field, all around it were some form of heater that evaporated the mist or repelled it so the circus remained mist free. Rei had to admit the size and look of the circus was impressive, ranging from strange rides to shows with exotic animals and their handlers who had tamed them. She wasn't here for sight seeing or riding rides though, even as lines of people showed up from the the village or other smaller villages, Rei pushed passed them and went to the gates where there were several booths with pretty women in skimpy outfits. Rei ignored the fan service outfits and looked into the eyes of the nearest attendant: the look she gave her was a serious one, but she was a very pretty lass and the attendant mistook her for a goddess at first. I would see the circus owner if they are around, I am on official business. she said.

The woman, realizing she was a human and the way she was gazing at her, made the woman weak to the knees. She was just too beautiful, she nodded silently, her tongue too thick to speak properly. She waved to an attendant standing idly by and the other female came over. She too drooled over Rei but unlucky for her, she was supposed to stay at the booth and sell tickets for ryo. The first woman lead Rei through the gates of the circus and began to weave through several entertainment shows and rides. We get a lot of business wherever we go. From time to time a nearby village wants a diplomatic meeting, or so I assume that's why you are hear. she turned her head slightly to look at Rei to see if her face or confident walk faltered. Rei remained a statue and the woman turned back to leading her towards the manager's residence. The manager is just inside. she explained and then knocked on the door.

An old man opened the door with a large cigar hanging out of his mouth. She saw the attendant and then the shinobi behind her. Come in Ms. Shinobi, I have been expecting your village to send someone. The manager waved his hand and dismissed the attendant, who hesitated a moment at the sight of Rei, she wanted to talk to her a bit more.

Um... Ms. Shinobi, perhaps when you finish speaking with the manager, I could spend my lunch break with you? she said to Rei. The manager just rolled his eyes and waited patiently as his attendant flirted with the beautiful female shinobi.

Rei's face didn't change at all, she looked straight at the owner of the circus and responded to both of them at once. I am only here on behalf of my village and do not wish to waste time here when my village expects a fast response. The old man took a big puff of his cigar and then blew the smoke into the face of the attendant. She coughed heavily for a moment and then stepped away. She felt somewhat hurt that the beautiful shinobi had turned her down in such a cold manner. She wasn't an ugly woman, rather she was believed to be one of the more beautiful attendants with a great body. What was wrong with this shinobi then? Was she dead inside or did she have a scar on her heart?

Beat it! The shinobi doesn't like you! said the owner of the circus and laughed again as the attendant turned away, fighting back her tears. Rei ignored the man's disrespect of the woman, she truly was beautiful but Rei had no desire to get close to her or anyone else: as a diplomat, it wasn't her say in how the owner treated his employees. Come on in Shinobi, I like you. You are a serious and straight to the point kid of man. I'll make your mission quick. With a motion of the hand, Rei followed the owner into a small but cozy work office kind of cabin that had been constructed for her. Rei crinkled her nose somewhat upon smelling, it smelled heavily of cigar flavors and smoke. The old man who was balding in the back of his head, went straight to his desk and opened a cabinet. He pulled out a large sack of ryo and placed it on the desk. Here you go. Every village sends their shinobi to our circus to collect payment for using their land.

Rei looked at the large sack, unblinking and then turned her gaze to the old man. She sat as the man sat, Rei sat in a chair across the desk, peering to the side to avoid her line of sight being blocked by the bag of hefty coins. You misunderstand sir. My village isn't here just about your money. Heaven’s Blossom is a place of interest of the other major villages, as such we have to take certain precautions. If you or your people wish to enter our village, you will first need to request shinobi escorts of the village to stay with you inside our village. Also, any injury or death of our citizens is to be reported right away. Lastly, like all other villages, Heaven’s Blossom requires a business compensation for the use of our forest. I will take this as your first compensation. The old man nodded, these terms were much like he was used to and the old man was fully prepared for the meeting or so it would seem. The loss of a bag of ryo didn't seem to phase him, surely his business wasn't that lucrative? Then again, there were a lot of people outside just waiting to get into the circus. With their negotiations agreeable, the old man handed her the bag of ryo and Rei excused herself. She went straight back to the village, not even bothering to use the front gate of the circus to leave. She didn't want the attendants getting distracted because of her, nor anyone following her in an attempt to steal the ryo.

Rei had recently done a good job in being the village's diplomat to the large and famous circus that had entered the surrounding forest. The circus had appeared suddenly with its many employees and set up without the village's permission: Rei had acted as an envoy and brokered a conditional deal between her village and the circus. The owner of the circus had been very understanding in his own gruff way: A wise business man, the old man had dealt with other villages before and knew how to talk to the diplomats. A sum of compensation of ryo and promises to keep their agreement with the village and the villagers' safety, that was all Rei could ask for and the village was pleased with the outcome.

A few days had passed, or maybe it was a few weeks? Rei couldn't be sure. Between all of her training and daily routine of loneliness, time always seemed to go by quickly. The highlights of her weeks were the missions she was tasked to accomplish for her village: the daily life of a shinobi. This was one such day, Rei had been outside and trimming the bushes around her house and tending to the lawn when a messenger approached with a mission for her. Rei's house work would have to wait, but it surely wasn't forgotten. Recently she had taken pride in her home, she knew that both Rin and Yin would be happy if they knew she was taking good care of herself and the house they had lived in together: dead or not, she wasn't going to disregard the feelings and opinions they held over her.

She took the mission from the messenger and again the messenger was gone, obviously off to deliver similar missions to other shinobi. Rei took the scroll and unsealed it, a half page of details and tasks were written down. Rei skimmed the key words and then re-read the mission in full to completely understand it. Having done such a good job with the diplomacy, the village had tasked her to stand guard at the circus. Apparently there had been a few mishaps recently and some of the villagers were not happy. Instead of using their village's influence, these villagers had take it upon themselves to make the circus "pay" As a partner in business with village, the circus had requested the village send some shinobi to stand guard and turn away any of the people who had been blacklisted for trouble making.

Rei sighed, she was already getting a headache just from reading the mission details, this was a bigger hassle than she wished to deal with. She sealed up the scroll and took it inside as she dressed in her usual black attire, white bandages on her arms and legs and then wore her dark grey flak jacket. She tied her ninja pouch to her middle lower back and then left the house. She locked the door and then frowned as she looked at the yard: the work was half complete and looked somewhat bad without being finished. It would have to wait until she returned from the mission however. She shook her head and headed towards the gate of the village. The guards nodded to her respectfully and she returned their nods, they seemed to be doing that a lot lately to Rei and she wasn't too sure why. She wasn't that well known in the village, was she? Then again, there were those dark rumors about her past: possibly it was fear?

She quickly traveled from the village through the forest towards the location of the circus, she had been here previously and had seen many villagers head in that direction for daily and nightly entertainment. It was now late afternoon and almost evening time, Rei would have the night shift of guarding the gates to the circus, thankfully fewer people visited at night although there was still a lot. The fog was beginning to roll in around the forest in thick waves, at night it was always thicker and harder to see. Rei had little to worry about though, she had grown up in the village and surrounding forest, the mist was like normal weather to her. Her own internal sense of direction and the mental map she possessed of the forest, combined with the strange lights and sounds coming from the circus's direction made it very easy to find the circus.

She burst out into the open field once again, no mist was here and there were still lines of people about, though few of them paid her any attention: most of their attention was drawn to the strange rides and shows they were eagerly standing in line to participate in. There were many gates to the circus, by the direction and position of the gates around her, she could only guess that there were gates all around. A ticket booth was at each gate and all of the gates had shinobi guarding them, Rei took up the position at one of the gates and relieved the day shift guard. She requested an update on the events at the gate during the day, it was reported that there was no sighting of the blacklisted members. That comforted but also worried Rei. On one hand she hoped that the blacklisted hadn't shown up because they gave up, having shinobi stand in your way was a big deterrence to any goal. On the other hand, if they were that persistent, they would wait until nightfall and use the cloak of shadows to try to get in.

Rei took up the guard position next to the booth, she noticed that the attendant was the same woman who had previously guided him to the owner's lodging in the circus on her diplomatic mission and later asked her for a small date. She had turned her down in a cold manner, it wasn't mean- strictly business but Rei couldn't help but feel a bit guilty. Surely turning her down in such a cold and emotionless manner would have scarred her own confidence in her beauty. Still, it had been for her own good and safety, Rei couldn't afford to get close to anyone else and the others surely couldn't afford to get close to her without paying a heavy price: their lives. Now here she was, in a situation where she would be stuck for several hours along the side of the attendant, surely an awkward silence or presence would be between them.

Thankfully, the never-ending line of customers buying tickets with their ryo proved a steady job and required the attendant to focus on her task instead of the beautiful Uchiha. At first Rei had stayed quiet and hoped that she wouldn't recognize her, but a few awkward glances later, Rei knew just by the hurt way she was looking at her, that she definitely remembered Rei. For a couple of hours, Rei was silent as she scanned the group of people in line and compared them to the blacklisted people: none so far. As those hours had gone by, Rei had tried to think of the best way to explain to the woman that she couldn't afford to get close to anyone, she needed a way to tell her and still mend the hurt she had caused her womanly pride. While often Rei was an uncaring person, she tried her best to not hurt others intentionally or unintentionally without reason.

Finally the line had slowed down and Rei was surprised that all those in the long line had managed to get inside. Currently there wasn't anyone in line and that offered the attendant and Rei a moment to talk. I'm sorry if I was too forward the last time, Mr. Shinobi. If I had known you were gay... Rei held up a defensive hand quickly to prevent her from finishing that statement.

First of all, I am not gay. Second, I too must apologize for being thoughtless about how you would feel in regards to my response. The simple fact is, that I have had too many people I care for die around me and I do not wish to allow anyone else to get close to me. She explained, saying more than she initially had intended to. The mention of her loved ones dying caused the moment to feel pity for her instead of anger or frustration, she wouldn't show it but she could accept that answer. It was a shame though, she was such a beautiful and powerful woman: surely she had a lot of scars beneath her clothing... and muscle too. She had to stop herself from thinking, she slapped her forehead and sat back down on her booth seat and tried to focus on the tickets.

Two men appeared just then and asked for tickets, she quickly peeled off the tickets and almost exchanged the tickets for Ryo when Rei's hand came across the booth and prevented the transaction. By orders of the circus and Kirigakure, the two of you men are blacklisted from this establishment. Turn away before there is any trouble. The woman blinked twice, she knew that the guards were posted for some reason, but she had no clue there were blacklisted trouble makers. Just her luck too, but fortune would have it that the beautiful shinobi was there to save her!

You're joking right?! We have the right to go in if we want! One of the men said in a gruff and threatening tone as he threw his ryo on the booth counter and grabbed the tickets. The attendant woman yelled in protest as the rude man did so: thinking he and his fellow could just rush by Rei, they took their tickets and tried. Rei crouched low and performed one long and quick leg sweep with her lead foot. The sweep tripped the two men forward as Rei stood before them in a low crouch, both of her fists raised upwards by her shoulders. As the men fell, Rei lined herself up with their bodies and stood up violently, both of her arms slamming into the throats of the two men and throwing them backwards. They lay on their backs for a few moments coughing and grabbing at their necks. After regaining their breathe, the stood up and ran off into the woods while yelling curses at Rei. Likely they would go to the other gates in an attempt at entrance.

Impressed and excited, the attendant found herself fawning over Rei and touching her face to make sure she didn't have any injuries. Rei assured her that she was fine. It was not long after that first encounter that the second group of blacklisted individuals showed up. Just by looking at them, Rei could tell they at least two of them were shinobi. The third appeared to be a civilian, who walked in a cocky manner, thinking he was safe with his two shinobi buddies. They walked up to the booth and requested tickets, the attendant glanced at Rei and Rei shook her head in disapproval. My apologies men, but you are blacklisted and the manager had forbid me from selling you admittance to the circus. If you have any objections, then my friend here will escort you away from the premises. Rei liked that, the woman had handled the situation well in explaining things. It was now known that it wasn't her fault, but the circus owners who blacklisted them: any sensible person would have understood that and not gotten mad at the pretty attendant.

This wasn't the case however. As the woman finished her response, the leader of the three slammed his fists on the counter angrily. You can't stop us from going inside! I still havent been abl to find my sister because of this place! With that, they turned their attention to Rei and sized her up: the two shinobi were from the village and also wore flak jackets, likely higher ranked even. The first shinobi swung at Rei, who easily dodged the first swing. She realized that this wouldn't be a fair fight, one of many of these individuals had personal stages or vendettas against the circus and wouldn't fight fairly with one posted guard. As she dodged the first swing, she noticed the other two men moving to the sides of the first man to support him. Rei blinked once and her black eyes turned dull in an eerie manner in the darkness. The lights of the circus reflected off of his back and cast a long shadow over the front of Rei, hiding her face.

With her speed, she could more easily keep up and react to the violent intentions of the men. After having dodged the first swing, Rei had ducked and punched the middle man square in the gut to knock the wind out of him. She stood up and placed both hands on the middle man's head and pushed down violently as she used the man's weight to lift herself into the air and kick outward to the sides with both legs. As the middle man's face went down into the ground and broke the first layer of topsoil, Rei's side kicks found the side men's faces solidly and sent them flying in opposite directions at a fast speed. All three men lay on the ground for a long time, moaning and cursing at Rei. She turned her attention to the attendant. I am feeling somewhat hungry, please go fetch me something to eat. she asked her politely but in her usual cold manner, her dull eyes gathering her attention and sending her away quickly to fetch some food for the hungry and dangerous but beautiful shinobi.

Rei had sent her away on purpose, the longer she remained as a spectator to the fighting, the longer the chances were for her to get caught up as a victim or target of the men's aggression. Even as she sent her away, another group of three men came along: they too were the blacklisted. Rei held out her hands on both sides of the open gate to bar their entrance. The other three men lay on the ground, two of them rolling and holding their faces in agony and the third face down in the dirt, passed out cold. Rei glared at them with threatening demonic eyes. You are blacklisted individuals who the circus and village have deemed unable to enter the circus because of your troublesome actions. Please turn away or end up like these three men. Her threat was effective and intended, the three standing men seemed affected by her words and the sight of her defeating three men, two of which would shinobi. Even still, they desired entrance and didn't even bother addressing Rei as she guarded the gate.

Unlike the last three, these three didn't underestimate Rei. They too possessed two shinobi with dark grey flak jackets: at least equal rank. Rei disliked the idea of fighting her village comrades, but it was necessary. She just couldn't understand why they were so angry, angry enough to fight their own village's shinobi. The group of three attacked together, the first pulling out a kunai and swinging the sharp weapon at Rei's chest. The second ducked low and tried to bolt tackle Rei's body and the third tried to circle around behind her to trip her up. Rei back stepped once to avoid the glancing blow from the kunai and then ducked lower into a forward roll as she rolled between the legs of the two front men and stood up suddenly. Now all three men stood in one straight line with their backs turned to her. She kicked the first one between the legs and as the man's legs buckled, Rei grabbed his hair and slammed his forehead into the back of the second man's head, both went down unconscious. The third man hesitated and Rei used that hesitation to dash forward and slam her fist into the man's gut. She knocked the wind out of him and the man dropped to his knees. Rei picked up the dropped kunai and placed it in the man's weak hand as she stared down in a cruel manner with her uncaring eyes. Take your friends and leave.

The man staggered to his feet and nodded in defeat. The attendant returned shortly and was very surprised to see six men down, four of which were shinobi. All of them were staggering to their feet and supporting each other's weight as they left the circus grounds while cursing at Rei. Wow... you just defeated six men all by yourself... said the woman, visibly impressed. Rei turned to her, her eyes back to normal now as she smiled a friendly smile and took the funnel cake that she handed to her. She gave her some ryo in exchange and wouldn't be denied paying her for her services. For the rest of the night, there were only a few more customers and none of the blacklisted individuals. The woman attendant thanked Rei for her help and she returned to the village after the day guards replaced her.

People have been going missing? Rei asked herself incredulously as she red the mission details of a mission scroll just handed to her. It had been two days since her guard duty mission and she was just now finishing the lawn work around her house: a messenger had approached and handed a mission just for her. She had opened it up and did her usual, skimming it at first for key points and then going back to read the whole thing for proper understanding of the mission. After reading it, she sighed. Thinking back on the mission before, one of the shinobi that she had fought and prevented from entering the circus had said something about not being able to find his sister after they had visited the circus. At the time and in the heat of the moment, Rei hadn't put too much thought into the man's aggressive reasoning for trying to defy Rei from guarding the circus entrance. Now that she had a mission before her that implicated such things like missing people, Rei felt somewhat bad for dealing such a harsh blow to that man specifically. Her last mission had been to prevent them as blacklisted individuals from entering the circus. She had been allowed to fight but not kill them, for their own safety and her own safety, she had used her exceptional speed to actively read their body movements and deal brutally effective hits to defeat them without allowing them to rise to their feet once.

Rei had thought it was unusual at how much vigor and aggression those people had had towards the circus, but she didn't realize it was something so serious. Because of her own blindness in the matter and only focusing on stopping them, she had been unwilling to listen to the outcries of her very own village shinobi because the mission told him it was necessary. Looking back on it now and if indeed these accusations of missing people were true, then she felt terrible for pushing the men away from saving those people dear to them. She rolled up the scroll and returned inside her home, she had finished the lawn work and admired it: Rin and Yin would have surely loved her recent skilled with lawn care. She dressed in her usual attire, first wrapping her arms and legs tightly in white bandages and then placing her 3/4 length black pants on, followed by her black long sleeve shirt and dark grey flak jacket. She put the mission scroll into her ninja pouch and then tied the pouch to her lower middle back.

Having been prepared for the mission at hand, she left her house and locked the door. Since this was to be a spy mission, she was uncertain how long she would be gone. Monitoring the employees of the circus could take a long time because there were plenty of employees to serve the many many villagers who visited the circus near daily. Rei left the village through the gates, the guards nodding respectfully to him once again, which she returned the sentiment. She wasn't sure how she felt about village shinobi acknowledging her as she went on missions. It was true that she wanted power and the renown to be known, respected and feared by others respectively, but she was a Special Jounin still. Yes she had done many missions and a few higher ranked missions so far, but was her accomplishments enough to get him recognition so early in the village?

She was somewhat troubled, but liked the attention as well. She thought it over as she traveled towards the circus, there were several stirring emotions within him and she wanted to resolve them before she started her mission earnestly. By the time she arrived at the circus, she hadn't solved anything however, so she suppressed her own emotions and focused on the mission. As usual, the pretty attendant who had the hots for him was working the booth: she sidestepped the large line and cut in front of another man. One ticket please. she said in a kind tone and then turned to apologize to the man she had cut in front of: the man had begun to protest, but the way Rei looked at him made the man shrink back a little and be quiet. The attendant handed him a ticket after she paid her, she smiled and winked at him playfully and she returned a weak smile in return.

First step of her plan was complete. Getting inside the circus required one to have a ticket and if one didn't show their ticket at each ride or event, then they would be escorted out of the circus. Having this ticket was necessary for her misision, she had to remind herself though that she was here on business, not pleasure. I really do hate circuses... she thought silently to herself as she complained. Yin had taken him to one when she was little and she had hated even back then, though she pretended to have a good time for her thoughtful sister's sake.

It was late in the evening and the sun had already set, lights had been turned on for the circus to keep the "party" going and people still mulled about the rides and shows. Rei walked around for a bit as she got a feel for the surroundings and the type of people that worked there: while the attendant and other booth workers seemed to exclusively work the booths and tickets, they seemed unconnected with the rest of the circus, likely people from smaller villages they employed temporarily. She needed to cover a lot of ground in a short time, it was late evening and there were far less people here than usual. If someone was to go missing, then it was likely to happen around this time. Rei had a brilliant idea. She went to a small event booth and threw some expert darts at blloons until she won a prize. She chose a brown blanket and went into the public bathrooms: luckily there was no one there.  Rei held up the blankets against the backgrounds of the buildings and tents. In an instant, the blankets turned invisible and hid Rei from being seen. There she stayed for a few hours, monitoring each area until she saw something unusual.

After the last show for the evening, the handler and her tiger returned behind their stage and into a building: Rei was inside this building and hidden. The handler put the tiger on a leash against a large post and went over to a pile of crates. The handler looked round for a moment, making sure no one was watching as he pushed one crate backwards to reveal a trapdoor into the ground. He undid a lock on the trapdoor and pulled out a startled, bound and gagged young woman. Rei's mouth curled with disgust as she thought of the different things the man might do. Well deary, it looks like you'll be one tasty snack tonight for my dear kitty here! cackled the tiger handler as he pushed the girl towards the tiger and held her just out of reach of the hungry tiger. The woman was crying and futilely trying to get away. Rei waited until the tiger raised a giant paw and then swung at the girl, attempting to slice her up and silence her. Rei jumped out from behind the blanket and tackled the young woman and sent her flying, What the...! said the tiger handler, not certain what was going on. The large tiger leaned forward and sniffed the ground, uncertain about the stranger.

The man turned her attention to the woman, who was hopping away desperately. He chased after her while her cat was tied up, he couldn't allow her to escape or else his career would be ruined: it was unfortunate that the cat refused to eat anything but human flesh! Just as the man was about to reach the girl, Rei appeared again  and buried the blade of her kunai deep into the man's chest. The handler staggered for a moment full of surprise and then turned to look at his giant pet before falling to the ground lifeless. Rei untied the woman who hugged her, crying and thanking her for saving her. Rei took the woman outside and quickly to one of the other Heaven’s Blossom shinobi at the gates for protection before returning to Rei and the tiger.

The tent visibly shook from the outside every time the cat roared and swung a giant paw at Rei whom had returned to finish the cat off. It didn't take Rei long to understand how much of a restricted fight this was for the tiger, being trapped inside the tent that was too small for. The beast was large, much too large for Rei and her small weapons. Quick thinking saved her before things got any worse. Fortunately, Rei's "gloves" were weapons, Erebus- S Rank quality material, capable of tearing through an opponent with her unnatural strength. She lunged forward and stabbed deep into the flesh of the tiger. In rage, the cat roared, but its movements were restricted and it fell to the ground. The more it struggled to free itself of her grip on its neck, the deeper her clawed gloves cut into its flesh.

By now a great deal of noise had occurred and others came running to find out what happened. They arrived to find the handler dead and the cat nearly dead from loss of blood. The owner of the circus stormed up and panicked as he demanded an explanation. Your employee here has been feeding human lives to her giant tiger. I had to kill both of them in order to save a young woman's life and then protect my own life. She didn't tell the owner that the girl was on her way back to Heaven’s Blossom to be reunited with her family. After the tiger was dead, Rei released the hold on the cat's corpse. Rei pulled the kunai out of the dead handler's chest and wiped the blood off onto the fancy clothes the corpse wore. Without another word, she left the circus and back to the village.

You have to be kidding me! Rei cried out to herself as she saw the messenger headed her way, no doubt with another mission in regards to the Circus of Laughter. The night before had been anything but laughter. She had infiltrated the circus secretly and spied on several of the employees until she found what the village feared: one of the employees kidnapping people from visiting the circus. A battle had ensued after discovering the kinapping because the handler of a giant tiger had been feeding people to his precious pet: Rei had saved a young woman and killed both the handler and his human eating giant tiger. The circus owner hadn't been happy about one of his favorite employees dying, but he also was stricken with concern since it was his employee that was killing people. Naturally his whole establishment had been take into careful concern and now he had to tread lightly with his employees to keep operating. The village demanded repayment to the families who had lost people to his kidnapper employee. Paying for over a handful of funerals, the owner felt a chunk of what he had earned here now gone.

That was when the owner had thought of a brilliant idea to earn back some of that lost ryo as well as promote trust and safety. He would hold a day of free rides and events! People would come back and then come back again the next day! Of course the food wasn't free and his circus made a lot of ryo simply by selling food to the people who stayed for hours and got hungry. He would raise the prices just a little afterwards and soon he would have made up all and more of the lost ryo from the unfortunate event.

That was his plan, but when he made it, the village ensured from then on that there would be several shinobi posted throughout the circus at different areas to monitor the employees and ensure the safety of the people. That had put a little damper on his business pride, he wasn't used to villages invoking their full authority in his own circus, but his only option was to leave and go elsewhere. Right now though, he didn't have enough funds to simply up and move the whole circus. Word had gotten around that the circus would be free for one who day and many people decided to come back! Fear of similar events, the village had increased the amount of guards within the circus and thus included Rei in the mission even though he had been there jut the day before.

This mission was supposed to start immediately but the messenger had gotten to her late because of the sheer number of shinobi tasked to the circus at this time. Rei had read the details of the mission and realized that she was late: she quickly got dressed, locked the door to his house and ran through the gate of the village, offering a wave to the guards who recognized her. She traveled quickly through the misty forest and mad it to the circus in timely fashion. She slowed her speed and walked through the gate without a ticket, now being tasked with several other shinobi to guard within the circus, they weren't required to have a ticket on them for entrance.

Rei arrived at her posted station soon after, looking around she had found nothing out of the ordinary and slowly melded into a monitoring and casual routine to ensure the safety of those villagers around the area. With the village sending their shinobi to stand guard, the villagers once again felt safe and returned in droves. It was difficult to keep watch, there were so many people around the area that he could only see the people closest to her: the other guarding shinobi had the same issues. It was rather frustrating.

Around mid-day, there was a ruckus from an exhibit not too far away from Rei. At first it had been small and full of excited voices but soon turned into a panic with people screaming and running in every direction. Rei made her way over to the center of the commotion quickly and found a dozen human sized lithe monkeys running about loose of their cage. Somehow their cage had been opened and they were running about biting people and picking up objects they were familiar with. Unfortunately, these were trick monkeys who were most familiar with knives and unicycles. Knowing only their routine, the monkeys had run into the back of their tent and pulled out their small unicycles and sets of knives. Rei had seen their normal routine enough as a guard to understand the dangers here. The normal routine was that these monkeys would ride around on their unicycles on a stage while their handler was strapped to a wall and the monkeys would throw the knives expertly to barely miss their handler. The fact that these monkeys were out and doing their routine with too many people around them, Rei knew it was only a matter of time until those monkeys juggling sharp knives began to throw them at people.

Luckily for Rei, she was the first line of defense and the monkeys were all clustered together as they used their unicycles to go in circles and do tricks with each other. With her exceptonal speedh, she could easily keep up with the movements of the monkeys and the speed of their throwing knives. She needed to get their attention though before they decided on different targets for their knives. She stood against the closest wall and waved her hands yelling at them: getting their attention, she returned to the wall much like their handler used to. Recognizing the que, the monkeys began to howl in delight and move in controlled circles on their unicycles. The first monkey threw one of the knives in Rei's direction, followed by a second knife by a second monkey: this process repeated quickly as Rei jumped into action. She moved her body out of harm's way of the sharp knives and caught them in mid-flight and returned them to their throwers at a speed too quick for the monkeys to catch. One by one, she mowed the monkeys down by expertly throwing the knives in the directions the monkey's unicycles would carry them and the weapons would stab deep into lethal spots. One by one with a domino effect, the monkeys fell off of their unicycles and twitched on the ground dying. Knives stuck out of their bodies in different areas like their hearts, brains and necks. Rei wiped her brow and cursed as some other shinobi rushed towards her location. Damn monkeys. was the only explanation she offered and walked back towards her guard spot. The circus and the handler could clean up the mess while the other shinobi figured out the cause to how the monkeys had escaped. How she hated circus and for good reason: these people trained unintelligent animals to perform dangerous acts. It was only a matter of time until something like this happened! It was all just a bunch of stupid nonsense, that's how Rei felt about the whole idea of a circus.

What kind of crap is this! Rei exclaimed loudly as she held yet another circus mission in her hands: she was angry and worried or at least that was what her rational told her to feel, not about the mission itself, but more or less over the circus owner and his recent stream of antics to get more customers to attend his circus. Just two days ago he had held a free circus day to promote his business after the unfortunate news of his bad employee who was kidnapping people and feeding them to his giant tiger. The owner's plan backfired on him however as he provided the free day of the circus. At first being successful, the circus owner had gotten a lot of revenue from the food stands: that slowed down drastically after yet another mishap at his circus. Shinobi including Rei had been dispatched to the circus to ensure the safety of all the villagers who attended the circus that day and luckily for them, those villagers hadn't suffered any injuries but a few people getting wounded in the panic and small scale stampede of fear. A few broken bones, nothing more.

Somehow the monkey cage that house a dozen skilled monkeys at throwing knives had been opened without anyone around to notice, the handler was gone atthe time and the monkeys did the only thing they knew. They had taken their unicycles and throwing knives and looked for still targets to throw them at. Anyone who knew the trick and thinking rationally would have known that not moving at all would have saved their lives: the monkeys were trained to "barely" miss hitting the targets. A panicked person was sure to try to evade the knife throws and end up butchering themselves with the thrown weapons. Rei had been present as a guide assigned to guarding within the circus at the time and was luckily he was there during the monkey accident. She had used his speed and weapon skill to expertly catch and throw back the projectile weapons with deadly accuracy, effectively killing all of the loose monkeys and saving the villagers.

In the circus owner's mind, Rei was bad for business. She had received several complains by the owner after each incident where things had gotten out of hand and Rei had ended up killing multiple stars of some of his best circus attractions. First the giant tiger and tamer and now all of the monkeys! The owner understood that circumstances prevented Rei from acting swiftly and efficiently, but that hadn't stopped the owner from attempting to blacklist even her from the circus for fear of Rei killing the next circus attraction. The village wouldn't accept that however and straight out denied the owner from blacklisting Rei. The very shinobi they had sent there to safely accomplish and fix those outrageous events. It was rude and disrespectful! The owner was basically saying that he wanted someone less skilled to come in and possibly fix the circus errors: chances were that the shinobi would get serious injured or killed but then the owner of the circus would have enough time to reign in his lose animals and handlers before he lost them. Basically, he was saying he would rather the shinobi protecting the people die instead of his ryo making attractions.

While Rei was bad for the circus owner's business, she was good business for the village and good health for the villagers: time and time again she had proved capable of protecting the villagers and others in crucial moments when others would have either froze up or be out-classed in skill. Rei was an accomplished individual in the village's eyes, reliable and trustworthy: they wouldn't let her be ostracized by the circus and its owner because the circus couldn't keep its stuff together. Instead of stopping her from helping in the missions, the village had given Rei a couple days off the circus missions to help her relax and to also cool the anger the circus owner felt towards her and the village.

Yet here she was again, standing outside her house and holding mission details after two days. Along with the mission details, there was also a flyer, an advertisement flyer by the circus owner about one of his newest and prized attraction! The flyer depicted a pool full of sharks while someone walked on a small rope across the pool and holding weights on either side to keep them balanced. Even without looking at the mission details, Rei knew exactly what this mission would be about and he was not pleased at all. Water was one thing, standing on and fighting atop water was okay- but Rei had spent many missions helping the great fisherman and she had learned that many terrible things dwelt within the water. In this case, a pool full of sharks! It was ridiculous and a death warrant for anyone stupid enough to try it! Fighting in the water was difficult, physical skills had a lot of resistance in the water and caused the individual to move much slower. Helping the great fisherman, Rei had learned that it was best to fish out the problems instead of trying to jump in and fight them.

Needless to say, Rei read the mission details and nodded to herself in a grim manner as she read the part about standing guard to ensure nothing went wrong with the event. This is becoming more trouble than it's worth, seriously... Rei complained out loud as she shuffled back inside her house and rolled up the scroll. She threw the shark flyer into the fireplace and watched it burn. Recently one bad event was happening after the next and it was only a matter of time before someone else got seriously hurt or died: Rei hoped it wasn't her ending up in the shark pool. Rei wondered why the village spent so much time focusing on using its shinobi power to protect the villagers from impending doom rather than circumventing all of the trouble and just sending the troublesome circus away. It wasn't really her place to say one way or another as a shinobi of the village, but she was sure it was about the amount of compensation ryo the village was getting from the circus. Paying their shinobi a small fee to take the blunt damage was a small price to pay from their compensation. While Rei understood the significance of the ryo, she didn't like the fact that her village was using her and others to gain ryo. Yes the village needed the ryo to survive, especially in these times... but this was just ridiculous!

Rei quickly got dressed in her usual attire and quickly left the village, she nodded to the guards and found the circus. There was a lot more people here today than she remembered over the last week: all of them were excited to see the shark event. It sickened her and her cold nature, while she was there to protect them, they were there to see the chance of someone falling into a pool of water with man eating sharks! She breathed a sigh of exasperation as she passed by the booths, the female attendant waving to her, she smiled weakly and waved back. She followed the mass of people as they all headed in the same direction. Most of the other events and rides were closed right now, until the shark event of course. All of the food places were still open though and bringing in the circus owner much revenue.

Laaaadies and gentlemeeeeen! it's almost time for our special event today! One of you lucky ticket holders will get drawn from this box and you will get to be the actor of this event today! It's your chance for small time fame! Rei grimaced, no one or at least only a few people would volunteer for such a stupid act, so the owner of the circus had resorted to using ticket numbers to pick his own "volunteer" That was fine and all because anyone could refuse.... but with so many people looking at you, it would be hard for anyone to decline doing the event. Peer pressure could be hard at sometimes. Another reason Rei was happy she didn't socialize much with others or connect with them.

At the last minute, a few stragglers arrived and employees went through the audience to make sure everyone had a ticket and those who wanted to do the event could purchase more tickets for better chances at getting picked. One of the employees offered Rei a ticket, she declined, she wasn't stupid enough to jump into a pool full of hungry sharks. You couldn't pay her enough ryo in the world to be that stupid. After the employee left her, she realized she really was that stupid: her village put her on this mission to save anyone if they did indeed fall into the waters, and of course, the Village would be paying Rei after the mission was over. She sighed in defeated exasperation, how she hated circuses. This mission was giving her a headache.

Moments went by with excited talk and then the voices got quieted into whispers as the owner of the circus got back on stage and began to hype everyone up with excited talk about the event fixing to begin. Rei got excited too, but for a different and less pleasant reason. She edged nearer the shark tank and looked into the pool, two large and menacing sharks swam about aimlessly while looking at everyone on the outside with their obsidian beady eyes. A box was brought out, full of identical tickets to everyone who had a ticket in the audience: the owner reached in and pulled out a ticket. Number three hundred and eighty four, come on up! said the circus owner in a sort of salesman pitch.

A few woots could be heard in the crowd as a young man jumped up and down, his buddies clapping and instigating him to go, finally he did, a wide smile of his face as he ran up the set up steps and gave a small bow to the audience who clapped and cheered for him. Rei covered her face momentarily with her hands, that young man was so gullible, getting peer-pressured into doing something so dangerous and dumb for everyone else's entertainment. Congratulations! Now let me explain this to you. These two weights here are equally weighed, their a little heavy but I don't think you'll have any trouble lifting them. said the circus owner as he inflated the young man's ego by thinking his muscles were quite impressive. You hold one weight out on either side of you as you step out onto the rope. These will help keep you balanced as you walk across to the other side! So easy. said the owner and clapping the lad on the back. The young man took the weights and lifted them only a little as he slowly took a single step out onto the rope, his heels still touching the deck of the stage. Rei edged a bit closer, full of suspense as she looked at the young man who seemed confident the weights would keep him atop the rope. His face was full of confidence as he took a couple steps towards the center of the rope, the rope was suspended several feet above the tank of water.

Rei frowned, the boy had lost his confident smile and was standing still and trying to keep his balance, he looked down at one of the weights. When he looked down, he lost his balance and went over the side of the rope. As soon as he reached an impossible angle on the rope, Rei had leaped up onto the water's surface and caught the falling boy and leaped away just in time. As her feet left their previous spot, both sharks jumped out of the water's bottom and splashed water everywhere as they attempted to eat both Rei and the young man. Rei was too quick however and landed safely on the deck of the stage, she placed the young man back on his feet: who then buckled and fell to the floor of the stage in shocked fear. Rei picked up the weights and looked at them, they were an optical illusion, they looked the same, but one was easily five pounds heavier than the other. Your weights are different, no wonder the boy fell... Rei said and then dropped the weights onto the stage and walked off shaking her head.

The owner looked confused but relieved: Rei couldn't tell if the circus owner's relief was from the boy being safe... or for the fact that this time Rei hadn't killed his precious shark attraction and made him lose more ryo. Rei couldn't guess how the owner was relieved or thankful, probably a mix of both... but surely no one would attempt something so dumb after seeing how easily the boy had fallen and almost become shark food. I wish this circus would leve already, they've long since worn out their welcome. She said to herself as she walked back to the village, behind a few villagers who had seen enough stupidity themselves. It comforted Rei to know she wasn't the only one who saw stupidity in such acts.

The pool of water remained undisturbed for a time, the employees of the circus were out and about doing other things while the manager sat on the stage of the recent shark event. He held the two weights in his hands and rested them on the hard wooden surface: he had a confused and troubled look on his face as he sat there thinking and looking at the weights hard. I am the one who invented this event. I KNOW this trick should have worked... someone has swapped out my weights and sabotaged my circus... then, what else have they sabotaged? The epiphany hit the circus owner like those weights on his hand, someone within the circus was purposefully ruining his name and the credibility the circus had in the shinobi world. He stood up, feeling a sense of danger, he knew all of his employees. He wasn't the best boss, he had some bad habits and was rude to a lot of people, but he couldn't think of someone who would want to ruin the circus.

He walked near the pool of water and peered down in at the two sharks that circled the edges of the pool, he had done this trick many times in his youthful days. He was a confident old man and wanted to prove to himself that it wasn't impossible to do this trick without weights. He took a step out onto the rope while holding no weights and lifted just his arms up to shoulder length to help keep his balance. He breathed carefully to control his emotions and center of balance and took two steps out onto the rope, the sharks didn't seem to pay him any attention and confidence overtook the old circus owner as he took a couple more controlled and easy steps out onto the thin rope. Once out in the middle of the pool on the rope, he knew he could complete the act just fine. Suddenly his smile faded as there was a strong 'thud' and the rope begn to vibrate a bit. Nervously, he looked down at the cause of the thuds, the sharks were ramming the sides of the pool and causing his rope to move back and forth a bit. In a panic, the old man began to make hasty footwork to the opposite side of the pool. In his panic, he moved too quickly and caused the rope to teeter dangerously in both directions: the circus owner tossed and waved his arms wildly to keep his balance but to no avail. One loud and long scream rang out over the circus as he fell and made a big splash in the water: a couple more violent splashes could be heard as the two sharks went into a frenzy and quickly tore the old man apart, devouring him.

*****

Rei sat outside in the bright sunlight as she relaxed and enjoyed the day away from the circus routines. Frankly she was tired of all the hassle and busy crowds: she disliked people in general and having to stay around large crowds was emotionally and mentally exhausting to the young Uchiha prodigy. Her relaxation was short lived however as she was tapped on the shoulder, she opened her eyes and looked up to see the messenger with a scroll with mission details. She let out a loud groan and slouched in her lawn chair as she took the mission scroll and thanked the messenger. She tossed one leg over the other as she lay in the chair in just a pair of shorts, attempting to get a tan from the sun. She unsealed the scroll and unrolled it: as usual, she skimmed the keywords and then went back to read the whole thing carefully to fully understand the mission. Seriously? This can't be real... she thought to herself in genuine surprise.

Rei sat up, more alert than relaxed anymore. The mission was a difficult one, more difficult than her recent ones had been but equally important. Apparently the owner of the circus had died the day before while cleaning up the shark event: she had slipped and fallen into the pool with the two sharks and was eaten alive. With his death and no successor to the circus, no one could led the circus or keep it together. Some of the workers returned to their villages while others came to the village looking for more honest work. That was all fine and good, the issue was that some of the circus employees were actually recently identified criminals, wanted missing-nin from different villages. They were dangerous and rogues, Heaven's Blossom no longer desired to have them around the village and had tasked Rei with dealing with one of the targets. Wolf Rider Kamen is it... Rei had never heard the name of the notorious shinobi, but she did vaguely remember seeing a giant wolf and a man riding it around. If it was indeed that pair, then this would be a tough mission.

No longer able to relax, Rei folded up the scroll and went inside her house. She would leave the lawn chair outside for when she returned to resume her sunbathing. She stripped down naked in her house and wrapped her arms and legs tightly in white bandages, followed by her 3/4 length black pants, long sleeve black shirt and dark grey flak jacket. This mission was the real deal: there would be actual confrontation and combat. It was funny in a way, the irony of it all. So far Rei had saved people by killing the circus' favorite attractions: now that the owner had died, the last of his famous attraction had gone rogue and the village had tasked Rei in killing them as well. Maybe this was just justice, Rei hated circuses and she was being given many opportunities to outright kill the circus participants. She tied her ninja pouch to her lower middle back and headed out of the village. The report said that the wolf rider was last sighted half a day ago near the east side of the valley along a river. Rei knew the spot well, it was great for hunting and thick with large trees.

Rei traveled for about an hour and carefully watched the trail of the woods until she found the tracks she was looking for, overly large wolf prints, heavy feet prints in the soft grass. This was the spot Rei would take her plan and turn it into a reality. She set to work in the area and then went off to find the wolf and its master. I know you're here Kamen! Come on out and fight me! I have all day to find you! she taunted the wolf rider for a while until she heard heavy footprints behind her. Her instincts alone saved her as her body dodged an arrow that was meant for her heart. The arrow sunk deep into the tree where Rei had been standing in front of. Ah there you are... Rei said with a rather large and taunting smile on her face. The site of the shinobi taunting him was too much for Kamen, the tall lithe fellow gritted his teeth as he slung his bow over his back and pulled out a flail.

At the sight of the flail, Rei's smile disappeared and she turned and began to run through the trees. Kamen cackled with laughter as he swung his flail in anticipation: his wolf swiftly gaining the distance between him and his prey. Rei ran at top speed and kept her sights forward, if she looked behind her, he would likely be a dead pile of meat against a nearby tree. Rei recognized the spot in the forest she had first spotted the wolf tracks, her skilled eyes darting around and she suddenly leaped into a jump as she straightened her body like a gymnast. She landed on the ground and into a roll as she stood up and backward away from Kamen and his wolf mount. She stood there and the wolf and rider closed down upon her, both rider and mount believing to have cornered their prey. The wolf gave out a howl of gleeful victory as they dashed towards Rei. A harp pain ran through both of them as they suddenly found themselves tangled up in a net... no, it wasn't a net, it was ninja wire! The pain in their bodies increased and they both shrieked in pain as they slowly realized the trap. From Rei's position, she could see the full thing and knew what had happened. She had taken her time to unroll thirty meters of sharp garrote wire and wrap it around several trees to make a durable spiderweb of ninja wire: in their pursuit of her, she had dived through a hole in the ninja wire web but the wolf and its rider unknowing and being too big of a target, ran straight into the web at full force and had sliced deep into their bodies and tangled up in them.

They struggled for a few moments, the wolf whining pitifully and the rider cursing loudly about not wanting to die: slowly their sounds became lessened as their blood left their bodies. They went into shock from blood loss and died together. After ensuring their deaths, Rei cut the ninja wire free of their bodies and washed it out in the river nearby and rolled it back up. The carnivores of the forest couple clean up the corpses. Your downfall was your rush to kill someone without first understanding your surroundings. She said to the corpses. Rei took a souvenir, a tuft of thick wolf fur and Kamen's old shinobi headband as proof of their deaths and returned to the village. Upon returning to the gates, she reported to the guards the location of the two corpses of the rider and his wolf mount. She handed them the bloody tuft of wolf fur and Kamen's old ninja headband. She was tired and wanted to relax, it was her job to kill the pair but there wasn't a feasible way to move the bodies. True she could have sealed the corpses in a scrolls, but sealing the large wolf body was more trouble than it was worth and above her skill.
